Beachten Sie die vom Fahrzeughersteller und Kfz-Handwerks vorgeschriebenen

Sicherheitshinweise und Auflagen!

Warnung!

Klemmen Sie wegen der Kurzschlussgefahr vor Arbeiten an der Fahrzeug-

elektrik immer den Minuspol ab.

Bei Fahrzeugen mit Zusatzbatterie müssen Sie an dieser ebenfalls den Minus-

pol abklemmen.

Warnung!

Unzureichende Leitungsverbindungen können zur Folge haben, dass durch

Kurzschluss

– Kabelbrände entstehen,

– der Airbag ausgelöst wird,

– elektronische Steuerungseinrichtungen beschädigt werden,

– elektrische Funktionen ausfallen (Blinker, Bremslicht, Hupe, Zündung,

Licht).

Beachten Sie deshalb folgende Hinweise:

z Verwenden Sie bei Arbeiten an den folgenden Leitungen nur isolierte Kabelschuhe,

Stecker und Flachsteckhülsen.

– 30 (Eingang von Batterie Plus direkt),

– 15 (Geschaltetes Plus, hinter Batterie),

– 31 (Rückleitung ab Batterie, Masse).

Verwenden Sie keine Lüsterklemmen.

z Verwenden Sie eine Krimpzange zum Verbinden der Kabel.

z Schrauben Sie das Kabel bei Anschlüssen an Leitung 31 (Masse)

– mit Kabelschuh und Zahnscheibe an eine fahrzeugeigene Masseschraube oder

– mit Kabelschuh und Blechschraube an das Karosserieblech.

Achten Sie auf eine gute Masseübertragung!

Beim Abklemmen des Minuspols der Batterie verlieren alle flüchtigen Speicher der Kom-

fortelektronik ihre gespeicherten Daten.

z Folgende Daten müssen Sie je nach Fahrzeugausstattung neu einstellen:

– Radiocode

– Fahrzeuguhr

– Zeitschaltuhr

– Bordcomputer

– Sitzposition

Hinweise zur Einstellung finden Sie in der jeweiligen Bedienungsanleitung.

MagicWatch Lieferumfang

Beachten Sie folgende Hinweise bei der Montage:

z Befestigen Sie die Schaltbox so, dass sie sich unter keinen Umständen (scharfes Ab-

bremsen, Verkehrsunfall) lösen und zu Verletzungen der Fahrzeuginsassen füh-

ren kann.

z Achten Sie beim Bohren auf ausreichenden Freiraum für den Bohreraustritt, um

Schäden zu vermeiden (1, Seite 3).

Beachten Sie folgende Hinweise bei der Arbeit an elektrischen Teilen:

z Benutzen Sie zum Prüfen der Spannung in elektrischen Leitungen nur eine Dioden-

prüflampe oder ein Voltmeter.

Prüflampen mit einem Leuchtkörper nehmen zu hohe Ströme auf, wodurch die Fahr-

zeugelektronik beschädigt werden kann.

z Beachten Sie beim Verlegen der elektrischen Anschlüsse, dass diese

– nicht geknickt oder verdreht werden,

– nicht an Kanten scheuern,

– nicht ohne Schutz durch scharfkantige Durchführungen verlegt werden (2,

Seite 3).

z Isolieren Sie alle Verbindungen und Anschlüsse.

z Sichern Sie die Kabel gegen mechanische Beanspruchung durch Kabelbinder oder

Isolierband, z. B. an vorhandenen Leitungen.

3Lieferumfang

4 Bestimmungsgemäßer Gebrauch

Die Schaltbox MW-SSC-01 ist eine Ergänzung zum MagicWatch-Programm. Sie ermög-

licht das Einschalten eine Einparkhilfe in Abhängigkeit von der gefahrenen Geschwindig-

keit, die vom Tacho übertragen wird.

Mit der Schaltbox MW-SSC-01 kann jede MagicWatch-Einparkhilfe auch als Frontsystem

betrieben werden.

Sie ist zum Einbau in Pkws ausgelegt.

5 Technische Beschreibung

Die Schaltbox MW-SSC-01 wird mit dem Tacho, dem MagicWatch-System und der Brem-

se oder Handbremse verbunden. Unterhalb einer einstellbaren Geschwindigkeit schaltet

sie das MagicWatch-System ein.

6 Schaltbox montieren

6.1 Benötigtes Werkzeug

Für Einbau und Montage benötigen Sie folgende Werkzeuge:

z Satz Bohrer

z Bohrmaschine

z Schraubendreher

z Satz Ring- oder Maulschlüssel

Für den elektrischen Anschluss und seine Überprüfung benötigen Sie folgende Hilfs-

mittel:

z Diodenprüflampe oder Voltmeter

z Isolierband

z Ggf. Kabeldurchführungstüllen

Zur Befestigung der Kabel benötigen Sie ggf. noch weitere Schrauben und Kabelbinder.

6.2 Schaltbox befestigen

Berücksichtigen Sie die Längen der Kabel bei der Auswahl des Montageortes für die

Schaltbox:

➤ Befestigen Sie die Schaltbox an einer geeigneten Stelle im Bereich des Armaturen-

bretts (siehe 4, Seite 4).

6.3 Schaltbox anschließen

WAECO empfiehlt, die Schaltbox auf jeden Fall mit der Bremsleuchte oder der Hand-

bremsen-Kontrolllampe zu verbinden. So haben Sie die Möglichkeit, die Schaltbox über

die gewählte Bremse abzuschalten, wenn die entsprechende Betriebsart eingestellt ist

(siehe Kapitel „Betriebsart einstellen“ auf Seite 12). Damit können Sie zum Beispiel ver-

hindern, daß die Einparkhilfe im Stau ständig Warnsignale ausgibt.

Bei Rückwärtsfahrt wird die Schaltbox über das gelbe Kabel abgechaltet. Diese Funktion

kann unterbunden werden, indem das gelbe Kabel nicht angeschlossen wird.

Verwenden Sie den Anschlussplan

z 7, Seite 5, wenn Sie die Schaltbox mit der Bremsleuchte verbinden,

z 8, Seite 6, wenn Sie die Schaltbox mit der Handbremsen-Kontrolllampe verbinden.

➤ Stecken Sie den Stecker des Anschlusskabels in die Buchse der Schaltbox (5 1,

Seite 4).

MagicWatch Schaltbox benutzen

➤ Schließen Sie das rote Kabel an den Plusanschluss (+) des MagicWatch-Systems

an.

➤ Schließen Sie das schwarze Kabel an den Masseanschluss (–) des MagicWatch-

Systems an.

➤ Schließen Sie das weiße Kabel an Masse (Karosserie) an.

➤ Schließen Sie das blaue Kabel an die Signalleitung des Tachos an.

➤ Schließen Sie das braune Kabel an die Zündung an.

➤ Schließen Sie das grüne Kabel an die Plusleitung der Bremsleuchte oder der Hand-

bremsen-Kontrolllampe an (optional).

Hinweis

Nicht angeschlossene Kabel müssen isoliert werden, damit keine Fehlfunktio-

nen entstehen und das Gerät nicht beschädigt wird.

➤ Schließen Sie das gelbe Kabel an die Plusleitung des Rückfahrscheinwerfers an (op-

tional).

➤ Stellen Sie den Dip-Schalter 4 entsprechend zur gewählten Bremse ein.

7 Schaltbox benutzen

Die Schaltbox wird automatisch aktiviert, wenn die angelernte Geschwindigkeit unter-

schritten wird. Sie schaltet dann das angeschlossene MagicWatch-System ein.

Das Verhalten der Schaltbox hängt von der eingestellten Betriebsart ab. Außerdem müs-

sen Sie die Geschwindigkeit anlernen, bei der die Schaltbox aktiviert werden soll.

Bei aktivierter Schaltbox leuchtet die rote LED (5 2, Seite 4) auf der Gehäuseoberseite.

7.1 Betriebsart einstellen

Wenn die Geschwindigkeit unter den eingestellten Wert sinkt, wird die Schaltbox akti-

viert. Ihr Verhalten bestimmen Sie durch Auswahl einer der folgenden fünf Betriebsarten:

➤ Stellen Sie die Dip-Schalter auf die gewünschte Betriebsart ein (6, Seite 5).

7.2 Anlernen

Achtung!

Da das Fahrzeug beim Anlernen gefahren werden muss, sollten Sie durch

eine zweite Person unterstützt werden.

Für eine optimale Funktionsweise einer angeschlossenen Einparkhilfe oder

Warnsystems sollten Sie als Bezugswert etwa Schrittgeschwindigkeit (weni-

ger als 5 km/h) anlernen.

➤ Starten Sie Ihr Fahrzeug und fahren Sie mit Schrittgeschwindigkeit.

➤ Drücken Sie den Speicherknopf (6 1, Seite 5).

✓ Die Schaltbox speichert die gefahrene Geschwindigkeit als Bezugswert für die Akti-

vierung der Schaltbox ab.

Bei Unterschreitung dieses Wertes leuchtet die rote LED (5 2, Seite 4) auf.

8 Schaltbox pflegen und reinigen

Achtung!

Keine scharfen oder harten Mittel zur Reinigung verwenden, da dies zu einer

Beschädigung der Sensoren führen kann.

➤ Reinigen Sie die Schaltbox gelegentlich mit einem feuchten Tuch.

Betriebsart Bedeutung

Mode 1 Wenn das Fahrzeug zum Stillstand kommt, schaltet die Schaltbox

sofort ab.

Mode 2 Wenn das Fahrzeug zum Stillstand kommt, bleibt die Schaltbox ein-

geschaltet.

Mode 3 Wenn das Fahrzeug zum Stillstand kommt, schaltet die Schaltbox

nach 10 s ab.

Mode 4 Wenn das Fahrzeug zum Stillstand kommt und die mit der Schaltbox

verbundene Bremsleuchte betätigt wird, schaltet die Schaltbox sofort

ab. Wenn die mit der Schaltbox verbundene Bremsleuchte nicht

betätigt wird, bleibt die Schaltbox eingeschaltet.

Mode 5 Wenn das Fahrzeug zum Stillstand kommt und die mit der Schaltbox

verbundene Bremsleuchte betätigt wird, schaltet die Schaltbox nach

10 s ab. Wenn die mit der Schaltbox verbundene Bremsleuchte

nicht betätigt wird, bleibt die Schaltbox eingeschaltet.

9 Gewährleistung

Es gelten unsere allgemeinen Gewährleistungsbedingungen. Sollte das Produkt defekt

sein, schicken Sie es bitte an die WAECO-Niederlassung in Ihrem Land (Adressen siehe

Rückseite der Anleitung) oder an Ihren Fachhändler. Zur Reparatur- bzw. Gewährleis-

tungsbearbeitung müssen Sie folgende Unterlagen mitschicken:

z eine Kopie der Rechnung mit Kaufdatum,

z einen Reklamationsgrund oder eine Fehlerbeschreibung.

10 Entsorgung

➤ Geben Sie das Verpackungsmaterial möglichst in den entsprechenden Recycling-

Müll.

Wenn Sie das Gerät endgültig außer Betrieb nehmen, informieren Sie sich

bitte beim nächsten Recyclingcenter oder bei Ihrem Fachhändler über die

zutreffenden Entsorgungsvorschriften.

Please observe the prescribed safety instructions and stipulations from the vehicle

manufacturer and service workshops.

Warning

To prevent short circuits, always disconnect the negative terminal of the vehi-

cle's electrical system before working on it.

If the vehicle has an additional battery, its negative terminal should also be dis-

connected.

Warning

Insufficient supply line connections could result in short circuits which:

– Cause cable fires

– Trigger the airbag

– Damage electronic control devices

– Cause electric functions to fail (indicators, brake light, horn, ignition, lights)

Please observe the following instructions:

z When working on the following supply lines, only use insulated cable lugs, plugs and

tab sleeves.

– 30 (direct supply from positive battery terminal)

– 15 (connected positive terminal, behind the battery)

– 31 (return line from the battery, earth)

Do not use plastic terminal strips.

z Use a crimping tool to connect the cables.

z When connecting to supply line 31 (earth), screw the cable

– To the vehicle's earth bolt with a cable lug and a gear disc or

– To the sheet metal body work with a cable lug and a self-tapping screw

Ensure that there is a good earth connection.

When the negative terminal of the battery is disconnected, all data stored in the volatile

memories will be lost.

z The following data must be set again, depending on the vehicle equipment options:

– Radio code

– Vehicle clock

–Timer

– On-board computer

– Seat position

You can find instructions for making these settings in the appropriate operating

instructions.

Observe the following installation instructions:

z Secure the parts of the control box in such a way that they cannot become loose un-

der any circumstances (sudden braking, accidents) and cause injuries to the occu-

pants of the vehicle.

Scope of delivery MagicWatch

z To prevent damage, when drilling ensure that there is sufficient room for the drill head

to emerge once the hole has been made (1, page 3).

Observe the following instructions when working with electrical parts:

z Only use a diode test lamp or voltmeter to test voltages in electric cables.

Test lamps with an illuminant consume voltages which are too high and which can

damage the vehicle's electronic system.

z When making electrical connections, ensure that

– They are not kinked or twisted

– They do not rub on edges

– They are not laid in sharp edged ducts without protection (2, page 3)

z Insulate all connections.

z Secure the cables against mechanical wear with cable binders or insulating tape, for

example to existing cables.

4 Intended use

The MW-SSC-01 control box is an additional product in the MagicWatch product range.

It enables the parking aid to be switched on automatically, triggered by the vehicle's

speed as measured on the speedometer.

The MW-SSC-01 control box enables the MagicWatch parking aid to be used at the front

of the vehicle.

It has been designed for installation in cars.

5 Technical description

The MW-SSC-01 control box is connected to the speedometer, the MagicWatch system

and the brake or hand brake. The MagicWatch system switches on under a set speed.

6 Mounting the control box

6.1 Tools required

For installation and assembly you will require the following tools:

z Drill bit set

z Drill

z Screwdriver

z Set of ring or open-ended spanners

To make and test the electrical connection, the following tools are required:

z Diode test lamp or Voltmeter

z Insulating tape

z Cable bushing sleeves, if necessary

To secure the cable you may require additional screws and cable binders.

6.2 Securing the control box

Take the length of the cable into consideration when selecting a location to mount the con-

trol box:

➤ Attach the control box to a suitable location in the vicinity of the dashboard (see 4,

page 4).

6.3 Connecting the control box

WAECO recommends that you should always connect the control box to the brake light

or the hand brake indicator light in all cases. This gives you the option of switching off the

control box using the brake selected if the corresponding operating mode has been set

(see the “Setting the operating mode” chapter on page 18). This means you can prevent

the parking aid giving out warning signals in traffic jams, for example.

When reversing, the control box is switched off via the yellow cable. This function can be

disabled by not connecting the yellow cable.

Use the connection diagram

z 7, page 5, if you connect the control box to the brake light,

z 8, page 6, if you connect the control box to the hand brake indicator light.

➤ Insert the plug of the connection cable into the socket of the control box

(5 1, page 4).

➤ Connect the red cable to the positive terminal (+) of the MagicWatch system.

➤ Connect the black cable to the earth terminal (–) of the MagicWatch system.

➤ Connect the white cable to earth (body work).

➤ Connect the blue cable to the signal wire of the speedometer.

➤ Connect the brown cable to the ignition.

➤ Conenct the green cable to the positive wire of the brake light or the hand brake in-

dicator light (optional).

Note

Cables that are not connected must be insulated to prevent malfunctions and

damage to the device.

➤ Connect the yellow cable to the positive cable of the reversing light (optional).

➤ Set the dip switch 4 to the appropriate brake.

7 Using the control box

The control box switches on automatically when the speed falls below the limit set. It

then switches the connected MagicWatch system on.

The control box has different modes of operation. You must set the speed at which the

control box is activated.

When the control box is activated, the red LED (5 2, page 4) on the housing glows.

7.1 Setting the operating mode

If the speed drops below the set value, the control box switches on. It acts depending on

which of the following operating modes you have selected:

➤ Set the dip switches to the desired operating mode (6, page 5).

Mode 1 When the vehicle comes to a standstill, the control box switches off

immediately.

Mode 2 When the vehicle comes to a standstill, the control box remains

switched on.

Mode 3 When the vehicle comes to a standstill, the control box switches off

after 10 seconds.

Mode 4 When the vehicle comes to a standstill, and the brake light con-

nected to the control box is activated, the control box switches off

immediately. If the brake light connected to the control box is not

activated, the control box remains switched on.

Mode 5 When the vehicle comes to a standstill, and the brake light con-

nected to the control box is activated, the control box switches off

after 10 seconds. If the brake light connected to the control box is

not activated, the control box remains switched on.

7.2 Setting

Caution!

Because the vehicle must be moved during the programming process, get a

second person to help you.

For the parking aid or warning system connected to the control box to function

ideally, you should set a reference value of around walking speed (less than

5km/h).

➤ Start the vehicle and drive at walking speed.

➤ Press the memory button (6 1, page 5).

✓ The control box stores the speed as a reference value for activating the control box.

When the vehicle speed falls below this set value, the red LED (5 2, page 4) glows.

8 Maintaining and cleaning the control box

Caution!

Do not use sharp or hard objects to clean the device as these may damage

the sensors.

➤ Clean the control box with a damp cloth from time to time.

9 Guarantee

Our general guarantee conditions apply. If the product is defective, please return it to the

WAECO location in your country (see the back of the instruction manual for the address-

es) or to your dealer. For repair and guarantee processing, the following documents must

be sent along with the device:

z A copy of the receipt with purchasing date

z A reason for the claim or description of the fault

10 Disposal

➤ Place the packaging material in the appropriate recycling waste bins wherever pos-

sible.

If you wish to finally dispose of the device, ask your local recycling centre or

specialist dealer for details about how to do this in accordance with the appli-

cable disposal regulations.
