Read this user manual carefully before you use the appliance and save it for future reference.



- Never immerse any part of the baby monitor in water or any other liquid.



- Check if the voltage indicated on the adapters of the baby unit and the parent unit charger

correspond to the local mains voltage before you connect the baby unit and the parent unit

charger.

- Only use the adapter supplied to connect the baby unit to the mains.

- Only use the adapter and charger supplied to charge the parent unit.

- The adapters contain a transformer. Do not cut off the adapters to replace them with other

plugs, as this causes a hazardous situation.



- If the adapter of the baby unit is damaged, always have it replaced with one of the original type

in order to avoid a hazard. For the correct type, see chapter ‘Replacement’.

- If the charger or the adapter of the parent unit is damaged, always have it replaced with one of

the original type in order to avoid a hazard. For the correct type, see chapter ‘Replacement’.

- Never use the baby monitor in moist places or close to water.

- Except for the compartments for the battery pack or non-rechargeable batteries, do not open

the housing of the baby unit or the parent unit in order to prevent electric shock.

- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical,

sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given

supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their

safety.

- Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

- The baby monitor has an operating range of 200 metres/600 feet in open air. Depending on the

surroundings and other disturbing factors, the operating range may be smaller (see section

‘Operating range’, in chapter ‘Using the appliance’).



- Use and store the appliance at a temperature between 10°C and 40°C.

- Do not expose the baby unit and parent unit to extreme cold, heat or direct sunlight.

- Make sure the baby unit and its cord are always out of reach of the baby (at least 1 metre/3

feet away).

- Never place the baby unit inside the baby’s bed or playpen.

- Never cover the parent unit and the baby unit with anything (e.g. a towel or blanket).

- Always put non-rechargeable batteries of the correct type in the baby unit.

- Always put a rechargeable battery pack of the correct type in the parent unit.



- This baby monitor is intended as an aid. It is not a substitute for responsible and proper adult

supervision and should not be used as such.



This Philips AVENT appliance complies with all standards regarding electromagnetic elds (EMF). If

handled properly and according to the instructions in this user manual, the appliance is safe to use

based on scientic evidence available today.





You can use the baby unit from the mains or on non-rechargeable batteries. Even if you are going to

use the unit from the mains, we advise you to insert non-rechargeable batteries. This guarantees

automatic back-up in case of mains failure.



1 Put the small plug in the baby unit and put the adapter in a wall socket (Fig. 2).

, The power-on light goes on.



The baby unit runs on four 1.5V R6 AA batteries (not included). We strongly advise you to use

Philips LR6 PowerLife batteries.

Do not use rechargeable batteries, as the baby unit does not have a charging function.

Unplug the baby unit and make sure your hands and the unit are dry when you insert the non-

rechargeable batteries.

1 Insert a coin or screwdriver into the groove of the locking knob (1), turn the locking knob

anticlockwise (2) and remove the lid (Fig. 3).

2 Insert four non-rechargeable batteries (Fig. 4).

Note: Make sure the + and - poles of the batteries point in the right direction.

3 Reattach the lid and turn the locking knob clockwise with a coin or screwdriver.

Note: When the batteries are low, the power-on light on the baby unit ashes red.



The parent unit runs on a rechargeable battery pack (included).

Charge the parent unit before you use it for the rst time or when the power-on light on the

parent unit ashes red to indicate that the battery pack is low.

1 Slide the lid of the compartment for the rechargeable pack downwards to remove it (Fig. 5).

2 Insert the plug of the rechargeable battery pack into the socket inside the compartment (1).

Then put the rechargeable battery pack into the compartment (2) (Fig. 6).

Make sure your hands and the unit are dry when you insert the rechargeable battery pack.

3 Slide the lid back onto the parent unit.

4 Place the parent unit in the charger (1), put the small plug in the charger and put the adapter

in a wall socket (2) (Fig. 7).

, During charging, the charging light on the charger lights up red continuously.

5 Leave the parent unit connected to the mains until the battery pack is fully charged.

, When the battery pack is fully charged, the charging light gradually dims.

- When you charge the parent unit for the rst time or after a long period of disuse, switch it

off and let it charge continuously for at least 14 hours.

- When the battery pack is fully charged, the parent unit can be used cordlessly for up to 10

hours.

Note: When the parent unit is charged for the rst time, the operating time is less than 10 hours. The

battery pack only reaches its full capacity after you have charged and discharged it three times.

Note: When the battery pack is low, the power-on light on the parent unit ashes red.

Note: When the battery pack is completely empty, the parent unit automatically switches off and loses

contact with the baby unit.

Note: When the parent unit is not connected to the mains, the battery pack gradually discharges, even

when the parent unit is switched off.



1 Place the two units in the same room to test the connection (Fig. 8).

Make sure the baby unit is at least 1 metre/3 feet away from the parent unit.

2 Press and hold the on/off button 3 on the baby unit until the green power-on light goes

on. (Fig. 9)

3 Turn the volume control to switch on the parent unit and to set the volume to the level you

prefer (Fig. 10).

, The green power-on light goes on.

, The LINK light on the parent unit ashes green until connection has been established.

This takes up to 30 seconds. The LINK light on the parent unit then lights up

green continuously.

Note: If no connection can be established, the LINK light on the parent unit ashes red.

4 Place the baby unit at least 1 metre/3 feet away from your baby (Fig. 11).

5 Place the parent unit within the operating range of the baby unit. Make sure it is at least 1

metre/3 feet away from the baby unit. For more information on the operating range, see

section ‘Operating range’ below (Fig. 12).



The operating range of the baby monitor is 200 metres/600 feet in open air. Depending on the

surroundings and other disturbing factors, this range may be smaller.

The parent unit has a LINK light that continuously informs you of the status of the connection

between the baby unit and the parent unit. You can set an alert on the parent unit to notify you that

the connection has been lost. The parent unit beeps and the LINK light ashes red when

the connection has been lost.



1 Slide the lid of the compartment for the rechargeable pack downwards to remove it (Fig. 5).

2 Remove the rechargeable battery pack from the compartment (1) and remove the plug from

the socket (2) (Fig. 13).

3 Set the link alert switch in the compartment to the ‘on’ position (Fig. 14).

- To switch off the alert, set the link alert switch to the ‘off’ position (Fig. 15).

4 Slide the lid back onto the parent unit.



With the microphone sensitivity control on the baby unit, you can set the sound that is picked up by

the baby unit to the desired level: low, mid or high. When the microphone sensitivity is set to ‘high’,

the baby unit picks up all sounds.

Note: The sensitivity of the baby unit can only be changed when there is a connection between the baby

unit and the parent unit.

1 Set the microphone sensitivity control to the desired level (Fig. 16).

, The power-on light on the baby unit turns yellow when a sound is transmitted (Fig. 17).

Note: You can use your own voice as a sound reference.

Note: When the microphone sensitivity of the baby unit is set to ‘high’, it picks up more sounds and

therefore transmits more often. As a result, the units consume more power.

You can adjust the volume on the parent unit to suit your surroundings.

1 Turn the volume control of the parent unit to the volume you prefer (Fig. 18).

Note: When the volume on the parent unit is set to a high level, it consumes more power.



The parent unit continuously monitors the sound level in your baby´s room and the sound level

lights let you know if there is any activity. If your baby cries, you see the sound level lights light up on

the parent unit.

- As long as the baby unit does not detect a sound, all sound level lights on the parent unit are

out.

- When the baby unit picks up a sound, one or more sound level lights on the parent unit go on.

How many lights go on depends on the loudness of the sound picked up by the baby unit.

- The sound level lights also operate when the parent unit is set to a low volume.



The baby unit has a gentle nightlight that helps to soothe your baby back to sleep.

1 Press the baby unit nightlight to switch the nightlight on and off (Fig. 19).



Always make sure that the channel selectors inside the compartments of both units are set to the

same channel. With these channel selectors, you can select sixteen different channel positions. If you

experience interference from other baby monitors, radios, TVs etc. that use the same channel, select

a different channel.

1 Remove the lids of both units.

, Baby unit: (Fig. 3)

- Insert a coin or screwdriver into the groove of the locking knob (1), turn the locking knob

anticlockwise (2) and remove the lid.

- If there are batteries in the compartment, remove them.

, Parent unit: (Fig. 5)

- Slide the lid downwards to remove it.

- Remove the battery pack from the compartment.

2 Use a small, at screwdriver to turn the channel selector of each unit to the desired position.

Make sure both units are set to the same channel (Fig. 20).

3 Test the connection

If you do not experience any interference when you test the connection, put the battery pack and

the non-rechargeable batteries back into the compartments and reattach the lids.

If you experience interference, set the selectors of both units to another channel and test the

connection again.





If the battery pack of the parent unit is sufciently charged, you can take the unit with you inside and

outside the house if you attach the unit to your belt or waistband with the belt clip. This allows you

to monitor your baby while you are moving around.

1 Insert the small pin on the back of the belt clip into the opening on the back of the parent

unit (1). Then turn the belt clip to the left until it locks into position (‘click’) (2) (Fig. 21).



1 Turn the belt clip to the right (1) and remove it (2) (Fig. 22).



Do not immerse the baby unit, the parent unit and the parent unit charger in water and do not

clean them under the tap.

Do not use cleaning spray or liquid cleaners.

1 Unplug the baby unit and the parent unit charger if they are connected to the mains.

2 Clean the baby unit, the parent unit and the parent unit charger with a damp cloth.

Make sure the baby unit and the parent unit charger are dry before you connect them to the

mains. Make sure the parent unit is dry before you put it in the parent unit charger.

3 Clean the adapters with a dry cloth.



When you are not going to use the baby monitor for some time, remove the non-rechargeable

batteries from the baby unit and the battery pack from the parent unit.

Store the baby unit, the parent unit, the parent unit charger and the adapters in a cool and dry

place.







Only replace the batteries of the baby unit with four 1.5V R6 AA non-rechargeable batteries.

Note: We strongly advise you to use Philips non-rechargeable batteries.



Only replace the adapter of the baby unit with an adapter of the original type. You can order a new

adapter from your dealer or a Philips service centre:





Only replace the charger of the parent unit with one of the same type.



Only replace the rechargeable battery pack of the parent unit with one of the same type.



Only replace the adapter of the parent unit charger with an adapter of the original type. You can

order a new adapter from your dealer or a Philips service centre:

- Do not throw away the appliance with the normal household waste at the end of its life, but

hand it in at an ofcial collection point for recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the

environment (Fig. 23).

- Non-rechargeable batteries and rechargeable battery packs contain substances that may pollute

the environment. Do not throw away non-rechargeable batteries and battery packs with the

normal household waste, but hand them in at an ofcial collection point. Always remove non-

rechargeable batteries and battery packs before you discard and hand in the appliance at an

ofcial collection point (Fig. 24).



Why isn’t the power-

on light on?

Perhaps the small plug is not inserted properly into the socket of the

baby unit or into the charger of the parent unit, or perhaps the adapter

is not or not properly inserted into the wall socket.

You may also have forgotten to switch on the units. Press the on/off

button on the baby unit and turn the volume control on the parent unit

downwards to switch on the units.

The non-rechargeable batteries of the baby unit or the rechargeable

battery pack of the parent unit may be low. In that case, replace the

batteries of the baby unit or recharge the battery pack of the parent

unit.

Why does the power-

on light ash red?

The non-rechargeable batteries of the baby unit or the battery pack of

the parent unit may be low. In that case, replace the batteries of the baby

unit or recharge the battery pack of the parent unit.

Why does the parent

unit produce a high

pitched noise?

The units are too close together. Move the parent unit at least 1 metre/3

feet away from the baby unit. If this does not help, the volume is too

high. Turn the volume control to a lower volume.

Why is there no

sound coming from

the parent unit?

Check if the volume is set high enough. If the volume is too low, turn the

volume control to a higher volume. Also check the microphone

sensitivity of the baby unit.

The parent unit may be out of range of the baby unit or there may be

too many walls and/or ceilings between the two units. Try a different

location or reduce the distance between the two units.

Why does the LINK

light ash red?

It ashes red because there is no connection. The parent unit may be out

of range of the baby unit or may be set to a different channel than the

baby unit. Check if the parent unit and the baby unit are both set to the

same channel. If they are, put the parent unit in a different place, closer

to the baby unit. If they are not, set both units to the same channel and

wait 10-30 seconds for the connection to be established.

Why does the parent

unit beep?

What you hear is the link alert. It indicates that there is no connection

between the baby unit and the parent unit. The parent unit may be out

of range of the baby unit or may be set to a different channel than the

baby unit. Check if the parent unit and the baby unit are both set to the

same channel. If they are, put the parent unit in a different place, closer

to the baby unit. If they are not, set both units to the same channel and

wait 10-30 seconds for the connection to be established.

Why does the parent

unit react too slowly

to the baby’s sounds?

Set the microphone sensitivity on the baby unit to a higher level and/or

move the baby unit closer to the baby. Make sure the baby unit is at least

1 metre/3 feet away from the baby.

Why does the parent

unit react too quickly

to other sounds?

Set the microphone sensitivity on the baby unit to a lower level and/or

move the baby unit closer to the baby. Make sure the baby unit is at least

1 metre/3 feet away from your baby.

Why can’t I establish a

connection?

The units may be set to different channels. Set both units to the same

channel and wait 10-30 seconds for the connection to be established.

The baby unit may be out of range of the parent unit or there may be

too many walls and/or ceilings between the two units. Try a different

location or reduce the distance between the two units.

Why is the

connection lost every

now and then?

The parent unit is probably close to the boundaries of the operating

range. Put the parent unit closer to the baby unit in a place where it has

better reception. Please note that it takes about 30 seconds before the

connection is re-established when you move one or both of the units.

The baby unit may be out of range of the parent unit or there may be

too many walls and/or ceilings between the two units. Try a different

location or reduce the distance between the two units.

Why do I get

interference on the

parent unit?

You may get interference when the parent unit is out of range of the

baby unit. The parent unit may also be too close to a window and pick

up interfering signals through this window. Move the parent unit away

from the window.

Interference also occurs if there are too many walls or ceilings between

the parent unit and the baby unit. Put the parent unit in a different place,

closer to the baby unit. Also make sure the units are well away from

mobile or cordless phones, radios or TVs.

Why do I hear noise

or a scratching sound?

There may be interference from another appliance or baby monitor.

Switch both units to another channel. Make sure both units are set to

the same channel.

The parent unit may be too close to a window, causing it to pick up

signals from other appliances or baby monitors. Move the unit away from

the window.

Why does the parent

unit pick up signals

from another baby

monitor?

The baby monitor operates on the same channel as another baby

monitor in the neighbourhood. Set both units to a different channel with

the channel selector.

Why doesn’t the baby

monitor manage the

specied range of 200

metres/600 feet?

The specied range of 200 metres/600 feet is only valid in open air.

Inside the house, the range is limited by the number and type of walls

and/or ceilings between the two units. Change the position of one or

both units to optimise the range.

What happens when

there is a mains

failure?

If you use the baby unit without non-rechargeable batteries, the

connection between the parent unit and the baby unit will be lost when

there is a mains failure. If there are batteries in the baby unit but the

rechargeable battery pack of the parent unit is empty, the connection

will also be lost. If there are non-reachargeable batteries in the baby unit

and the battery pack of the parent unit is charged, the connection will

not be lost.

Why does the

rechargeable battery

pack of the parent unit

not recharge?

The rechargeable battery pack has reached the end of its life. Replace

the battery pack of the parent unit.

The operating time of

the parent unit is

supposed to be at

least 10 hours. Why is

the operating time of

my parent unit

shorter?

When the rechargeable battery pack of the parent unit has been

charged for the rst time, the operating time is less than 10 hours. The

rechargeable battery pack only reaches its full capacity after you have

charged and discharged it at least three times.

The volume of the parent unit may be set too high, which causes the

parent unit to consume a lot of energy. Decrease the volume of the

parent unit.

The microphone sensitivity level of the baby unit may be set too high,

which causes the parent unit to consume a lot of energy. Decrease the

microphone sensitivity level on the baby unit.

Why does the

charging light on the

parent unit

charger light up red

continuously even

when the battery pack

is fully charged?

The charging light always lights up red as soon as the parent unit is

placed in the plugged-in charger. It gradually dims when the batteries are

fully charged but remains on to indicate that the charger is connected to

the mains.

the parent

charger?

The battery pack is probably completely empty. Let the parent unit

charge for at least 30 minutes before you switch it on. Leave the parent

Родителският блок работи с комплект акумулаторни батерии (приложен).

Заредете родителското устройство, преди да го използвате за пръв път или когато

индикаторът за захранване на родителското устройство мига в червено, с което указва, че

акумулаторният комплект е изтощен.

1 Плъзнете надолу капачето на отделението за акумулаторния комплект, за да го

махнете (фиг. 5).

2 Вкарайте жака на акумулаторния комплект в гнездото вътре в отделението (1). След

това поставете акумулаторния комплект в отделението (2) (фиг. 6).

5 Оставете родителското устройство включено в контакта, докато комплектът батерии

- Когато зареждате родителското устройство за пръв път или след продължителен период

на бездействие, изключете го или го оставете да се зарежда непрекъснато в продължение

на поне 14 часа.

- Когато акумулаторният комплект е напълно зареден, родителското устройство може да

се използва безжично в продължение на до 10 часа.

Забележка: Когато родителското устройство се зарежда за пръв път, времето на работа ще

бъде под 10 часа. Акумулаторният комплект достига пълния си капацитет едва след като го

заредите и разредите три пъти.

Забележка: Ако комплектът батерии е напълно празен, родителското устройство

автоматично ще се изключи и ще загуби връзка с устройството за бебето.



настроите желаната сила на звука (фиг. 10).

4 Поставете устройството за бебето поне на 1 метър от родителското

устройство (фиг. 11).

5 Поставете родителското устройство в рамките на радиуса на действие на устройството

за бебето. Погрижете се то да е поне на 1 метър от устройството за бебето. За повече

информация относно радиуса на действие вж. раздела “Радиус на действие” по-

долу (фиг. 12).



Радиусът на действие на бебефона на открито е 200 метра. В зависимост от околните

предмети и други препятствия радиусът на действие вероятно ще е по-малък.

На родителското устройство има индикатор за свързване “LINK”, който ви осведомява

постоянно за състоянието на връзката между устройството на бебето и родителското

устройство. Можете да зададете предупредителен сигнал от родителското устройство,

който да ви уведомява, ако връзката се загуби. Родителското устройство издава кратък звук и

индикаторът “LINK” мига в червено, когато връзката се загуби.



1 Плъзнете надолу капачето на отделението за акумулаторния комплект, за да го

махнете (фиг. 5).

2 Извадете акумулаторния комплект от отделението (1) и извадете жака от гнездото

(2) (фиг. 13).

3 Поставете ключа за предупреждение за връзката в отделението за батерии в

положение “включено” (фиг. 14).

- За да изключите предупредителния сигнал, поставете ключа за предупреждение за

връзката в положение “изключено” (фиг. 15).

4 Плъзнете обратно капачето върху родителското устройство.



С регулатора за чувствителността на микрофона на устройството за бебето можете да

изберете силата на долавяния звук: слаб, среден или силен. Когато чувствителността на

микрофона е настроена на “висока”, устройството за бебето улавя всички звуци.

Забележка: Чувствителността на микрофона на устройството за бебето може да се

променя само когато има връзка между него и родителското устройство.

1 Нагласете регулатора на чувствителността на микрофона на желаното ниво (фиг. 16).

, Индикаторът за захранване на устройството за бебето светва в жълто, когато се

предава звук (фиг. 17).

Забележка: Можете да използвате като образец за звук собствения си глас.

Забележка: Когато чувствителността на микрофона на устройството за бебето е

настроена на “висока”, то улавя повече звуци и затова предава по-често. В резултат на това

устройството консумира повече енергия.



Можете да регулирате силата на звука на родителското устройство, така че да е съобразена с

околната обстановка.

1 Завъртете регулатора на силата на звука на родителското устройство на положението

за желаната сила на звука (фиг. 18).

Забележка: Когато силата на звука на родителското устройство е настроена на високо ниво,

то консумира повече енергия.



Родителското устройство непрестанно следи нивото на звука в стаята на бебето и

индикаторът за ниво на звука ви показва дали там става нещо. Ако бебето заплаче, ще видите

светването на сегментите на индикатора за нивото на звука в родителското устройство.

- Когато устройството за бебето не открива никакъв звук, всички индикатори за нивото на

звука на родителското устройство са изключени.
