Thank you for choosing a Leitz punching and binding

machine. Please read this operation manual carefully in

order to understand how to use the unit correctly. Keep

this manual with the unit at all times.

Safety precautions

Intended use

This unit has been designed for punching paper,

FDUGERDUGDQGSODVWLF¿OPVDVZHOODVELQGLQJ

such materials using plastic combs. Use the unit

only for its intended use as described in these

operating instructions.

To protect against electric shock:

Make sure that your local mains voltage matches

the rating indicated on the unit’s type plate.

Only connect to a properly earthed mains socket.

Never operate the unit when mains outlet, wire or

plug are defective.

Protect the mains wire from being walked on or

pinched, particularly at the plug and at the point

where it exits from the unit.

Protect unit from high humidity, water and other

liquids.

Unplug unit from mains socket when not in use

and before cleaning.

In case of defects: Do not attempt to repair the

unit yourself. Contact the manufacturer for any

required repairs. Read guarantee declaration for

further information.

Keep unit away from children – risk of injury.

To prevent damage to the unit, remove all metal

Paper – The unit is designed for a maximum of

28 sheets of 80 g/m² paper to be punched at the same

Punching depth switch – Set to the comb

Punching button – Press to punch sheets placed

in the front or rear punching slots.

Binding mechanism – Opens and closes the

plastic combs with help of the binding lever !.

Comb size scale – Shows the comb size needed

for the amount of sheets to be bound.

the plastic comb inserted into the binding

mechanism .

"Cuttings tray – Empty regularly to avoid damage

to the motor and punching dies.

Mains cable/plug – Connect to a properly-

earthed mains socket.

save energy, always switch off the unit after use.

Blow-out fuse – Safeguard against electrical

malfunction. Only replace with same type and

rating.

Lid/paper stand±:KHQRSHQHGWKHOLGDFWVDV

a paper stand to ease punching.

Adjustable paper stop – Set to the paper format

used: A4, US letter or A5.

Front slot for two-hole punching – Place

sheets here for standard two-hole punching.

Unpacking and installing the unit

Unpacking / scope of supply

Carefully unpack the unit and inspect it for damage.

Warning! Risk of electrical shock. Do not connect to the mains

chassis, defective or wrong PDLQVFDEOHHWFRULIWKHORFDOPDLQV

voltage does not match the rating indicated on the type plate.

The packaging should contain the following items:

– the comBIND 500e,

± DVWDUWHUVHWFKRLFHRISODVWLFFRPEVDQGIURQWUHDUFRYHUV

– this operation manual.

Keep the packaging material at least until the guarantee has

expired.

Installing and connecting the unit

Place the unit on a stable, level surface HJWDEOH near a mains

outlet.

Connect the mains cable  with the mains outlet in a way to avoid

DFFLGHQWVVXFKDVWULSSLQJRYHUWKHFDEOH

)ROGEDFNWKHOLGSDSHUVWDQG.

Press the power switch  to switch the unit on.

The punching dies were coated with protecting oil during manufacture.

Punch several sheets of scrap paper in order to clean the

punching dies.

The unit is now ready for operation.



Punching and binding with plastic combs

Preparations

Set the paper stop  to the paper format used.

Determine the comb size needed by holding the document

scale .

You may also use the table on page 5 for this purpose.

Set the punching depth  according to the comb size determined.

Inserting and opening the comb

Place the plastic comb with the side to be opened facing upwards

into the binding mechanism .

Pull the binding lever ! so far until the comb is opened enough so

that the sheets can be easily inserted.

Punching the sheets

Tip: We recommend testing the punch setting using a blank sheet of paper

before punching the original document.

Caution! To prevent damage to the motor and punching

document before punching. Do not punch more than 28 sheets of

Insert the sheets into the rear slot .

Press the punching button .

Remove the punched sheets.

Inserting the sheets

Insert the punched sheets into the opened comb.

It is now possible to punch all remaining sheets (step 3) and insert them into

the opened comb.

Two-hole punching

Set the paper stop to the paper format used.

Caution! To prevent damage to the motor and punching mechanism,

0.2 mm at the same time. Also, empty the cuttings tray regularly.

Insert the sheets into the front slot .

Press the punching button .

Remove the punched sheets.

Troubleshooting

Problem Remedy

You hear an alarm sound

from the unit.

Empty the cuttings tray " immediately to prevent damage to the motor and punching

mechanism.

No response when

Is the cuttings tray " full? Is the unit properly connected to a live mains socket and

switched on ? Is the fuse  blown? If yes, go to next step.

The fuse  is blown. Replace fuse with same type and rating. If new fuse blows again, have the unit repaired

Maintenance and care

To prevent damage to the punching mechanism, empty the cuttings tray " regularly.

In case of defects: Do not attempt to repair the unit yourself. Contact the manufacturer for any required repairs.

Read guarantee declaration for further information.

To clean the housing, unplug the unit and wipe the outside with a damp cloth. Do not use any chemicals for cleaning.

Each unit is guaranteed against all defects in material

and/or workmanship for a period of 3 years from the

date of purchase.

All units for repair are to be returned to Esselte with

charges as necessary to the unit. The 3 year guarantee

is subject to the following conditions:

That the unit has been used strictly in accordance

with the operating instructions supplied with the

Le papier – Vous pouvez perforer à la fois une pile de

jusqu’à 28 feuilles de papier d’un grammage de 80 gram-

Si votre papier est plus mince, vous pouvez perforer

davantage de feuilles empilées. Si, toutefois, votre pa-

pier est plus épais, moins de feuilles se laissent traiter

à la fois.

Graduation – Indique la taille du peigne correcte

pour la pile de papier à relier.

feuilles qui doivent être pourvues de 21 trous puis

être reliées par un peigne plastique.

Déballer et installer l’appareil

Matériel fourni

$YHUWLVVHPHQW5LVTXHG¶pOHFWURFXWLRQ Ne reliez pas l’appareil

au réseau secteur lorsqu’il présente des endommagements visibles

ou lorsque la tension secteur locale ne correspond pas aux indica-

tions sur la plaque signalétique.

Le carton doit contenir les éléments suivants :

– le comBIND 500e,

– un kit de démarrage avec divers peignes et pages de garde,

– ce mode d‘emploi.

tie de l‘appareil.

2. Installer et raccorder l’appareil

Posez l’appareil sur un support stable et plan à proximité d’une prise

GHFRXUDQWSDUH[HPSOHVXUXQHWDEOH

Branchez le câble d’alimentation secteur  à la prise de courant de

sorte que personne ne puisse y trébucher.

Actionnez l'interrupteur principal  pour mettre l'appareil en marche.

Les lames de perforation ont été huilées en usine pour les protéger contre la

corrosion.

Procédez à une perforation initiale avec du papier déjà utilisé et

perforation.

L’appareil est dès lors prêt à l’emploi.



Perforer et relier par un peigne plastique

Préparatifs

Réglez la butée de papier  en fonction du papier utilisé.

Pour trouver la taille de peigne appropriée : posez la pile de

IHXLOOHVjUHOLHUDYHFOHVSDJHVGHJDUGHUHFWRHWYHUVRFRQWUHOD

graduation et lisez la cote qui y est assignée.

$FHWWH¿QYRXVSRXYH]pJDOHPHQWFRPSXOVHUOHWDEOHDXjODSDJH

Réglez ensuite la profondeur de perforation  en fonction de la

taille du peigne.

 ,QVpUHUHWRXYULUOHSHLJQH

Insérez le peigne plastique dans le mécanisme ; le côté ouvra-

ble doit être dirigé vers le haut.

Tirez sur le levier de reliure !MXVTXjFHTXHOHSHLJQHVRLWVXI¿-

samment ouvert pour y placer facilement les feuilles.

3. Perforer

Astuce : 5pDOLVH]XQWHVWGHSHUIRUDWLRQjO¶DLGHG¶XQHIHXLOOHGHSDSLHU

YLHUJHDYDQWGHSHUIRUHUO¶RULJLQDO

Attention ! Pour éviter tout endommagement du mécanisme

de perforation et du moteur, enlevez du papier tout ce qui est en

PpWDODJUDIHVWURPERQHVHWF3HUIRUH]jODIRLVDXPD[LPXP

IHXLOOHVGHJUDPPHVRXGHX[¿OPVHQSODVWLTXHWUDQVSDUHQW

de 0,2 mm chacun. Videz le compartiment à confettis " régu-

lièrement.

Placez les feuilles dans la fente arrière .

Actionnez la touche de perforation .

Enlevez les feuilles perforées.

4. Relier les feuilles perforées

Insérez les feuilles perforées dans le peigne ouvert.

puis les mettre dans le peigne.

Poussez le levier de reliure ! vers l'arrière pour fermer le peigne.

Enlevez le document dès lors relié.



•

Perforer

Adaptez la butée de papier au format utilisé.

Attention ! Pour éviter des dommages du mécanisme de perforation

et du moteur, perforez à la fois au maximum 28 feuilles d’un gram-

mage de 80. Videz le compartiment à confettis " régulièrement.

Posez les feuilles dans la fente avant .

Actionnez la touche de perforation .

Enlevez les feuilles perforées.

Dépannage

Problème Remède

Les pages du document relié ne se

laissent pas bien feuilleter. Réglez la profondeur de perforation  en fonction de la taille du peigne utilisé.

L‘appareil émet un signal d‘alarme. Videz immédiatement le compartiment à confettis " pour éviter tout

endommagement du mécanisme de perforation.

L‘appareil ne perfore pas malgré

l‘actionnement de la touche de

perforation.

Contrôlez si :

le compartiment à confettis " doit être vidé.

l'appareil est relié à une prise de courant fonctionnelle

et s'il est mis en marche .

le fusible  a éventuellement sauté.

Le fusible  a sauté. Remplacez le fusible par un neuf de même type. Si ce fusible saute aussi,

Schalter für Stanztiefe – Auf die verwendete

Binderückengröße einstellen. Bei richtig

gewählter Stanztiefe lassen sich die Seiten leicht

umblättern.

Stanztaste – Löst den Stanzvorgang aus.

Bindemechanismus – Öffnet und schließt

den Plastikbinderücken durch Betätigen des

Bindehebels !.

Skala – Zeigt, welche Binderückengröße für die

zu bindende Papiermenge erforderlich ist.

!Bindehebel – Betätigt den Bindemechanismus

, der den Binderücken öffnet und schließt.

"Behälter für Stanzabfälle – Diesen Behälter

regelmäßig ausleeren, um Schäden am Motor

und an den Stanzmessern zu vermeiden.

Warnung! Gefahr eines Stromschlags. Das Gerät nicht mit dem

Stromnetz verbinden, wenn Beschädigungen erkennbar sind, oder

wenn die örtliche Netzspannung nicht mit der Spannungsangabe auf

Der Karton sollte folgenden Inhalt haben:

– ein Starterset mit verschiedenen Binderücken und Deckblättern,
