YLEISTURVAOHJEET
VAARA: Seuraavien turvaohjeiden huomiotta jättäminen saattaa johtaa käyttäjän tai sivullisen
vakavaan loukkaantumiseen tai aiheuttaa vaurioita laitteelle tai muulle omaisuudelle.
VAROITUS: Noudata aina seuraavia turvaohjeita välttääksesi tulipalon, sähköiskun tai muun
loukkaantumisen riskin. Turvallisuutta edistää terveen järjen käyttö, valppaana oleminen sekä
laitteen ja sen toiminnan tunteminen. Lue laitteeseen kiinnitetyt tarrat ja käyttöohje kokonaan läpi ja
säilytä ohjeet myöhempää käyttöä varten ja kaikkien laitetta käyttävien saatavilla.
1. Käytä aina hyväksyttyjä suojalaseja.
2. Käytä hengityssuojainta mikäli työstä aiheutuu pölyä.
3. Eräiden materiaalien hiomapöly sisältää kemikaaleja, jotka saattavat aiheuttaa syöpää,
syntymävaurioita tai muita terveysongelmia. Eräitä tällaisia kemikaaleja ovat lyijy
(lyijypohjaisista maaleista), kvartsi (tiilistä), sementti ja muut muurausaineet sekä arsenikki ja
kromi (kemiallisesti käsitellystä puutavarasta). Vähentääksesi altistumista näille kemikaaleille,
huolehdi työalueen kunnollisesta ilmastoinnista, käytä asianmukaisia suojavarusteita sekä
erityistä hengityssuojainta, joka suodattaa myös pienhiukkaset.
4. Pidä ulkopuoliset etäällä työalueesta.
5. VAROITUS: Varmista, ettei työtilassa ole herkästi syttyviä materiaaleja, nesteitä tai kaasuja,
sillä laitteen käytössä syntyy kipinöitä.
6. Pidä laitteen suojukset aina paikoillaan työskentelyn aikana.
7. Irrota laite virtalähteestä aina ennen huolto- ja säätötoimenpiteitä.
8. Välttääksesi sähköiskun vaaran, älä käytä laitetta kosteissa olosuhteissa tai altista sitä sateelle.
9. Käytä ainoastaan alkuperäisiä ja suositeltuja lisäosia. Mikäli olet epävarma osien
soveltuvuudesta, ota yhteys jälleenmyyjään tai maahantuojaan.
10. Kytke maadoitettu laite paikallisten säädösten mukaisesti asennettuun ja maadoitettuun
pistorasiaan. Älä koskaan tee muutoksia pistokkeeseen. Älä käytä adapteria. Mikäli et ole varma
onko pistorasia maadoitettu, ota yhteys pätevään sähköalan ammattilaiseen.
11. Laitetta ei saa koskaan käyttää väsyneenä, sairaana tai alkoholin, huumeiden, lääkkeiden tai
muiden havainto- ja reaktiokykyyn vaikuttavien aineiden vaikutuksen alaisena.
12. Vältä löysiä työvaatteita ja roikkuvia koruja. Sido pitkät hiukset taakse.
13. Varmista, että kytkin ei ole päällä, kun laite kytketään virtalähteeseen.
14. Huollata laite ainoastaan valtuutetussa huoltoliikkeessä.
ERITYISTURVAOHJEET
1. VAROITUS: Vaihda vaurioituneet hiomakivet välittömästi.
2. Irrota laite virtalähteestä aina ennen huolto- ja säätötoimenpiteitä. Hiomakivi jatkaa
pyörimistään vielä senkin jälkeen, kun laite on sammutettu. Anna hiomakiven pysähtyä täysin
ennen huolto- ja säätötoimenpiteiden aloittamista.
3. Älä kiristä hiomakiven muttereita liikaa.
4. Säädä työkalutukia säännöllisin väliajoin pitääksesi hiomakiven ja tuen välin 3,2mm suuruisena.
5. Kun uusi hiomakivi on asennettu tai aloitat laitteen käytön, asetu laitteen sivulle ja käynnistä se.
Anna laitteen pyöriä täydellä teholla noin minuutin, jolloin hiomakiven mahdollisten vaurioiden
tulisi näkyä.
6. Älä koskaan hio kiven sivulla vaan ainoastaan ulkokehän pinnalla.
7. Älä koskaan kohdista hiomakiveen kuormitusta sen ollessa kylmä. Anna kiven lämmetä
lisäämällä kuormitusta vähitellen.
8. Älä koskaan käytä laitetta ilman hiomakivien suojuksia. Pidä sormet etäällä hiomakivistä.
9. Kiristä hiomakivien mutterit, pultit sekä kiinnikkeet ja suojukset.
10. Älä kurottele hiomakivien taakse tai alle.

11. Asentaessasi uutta hiomakiveä, varmista aina että sen ilmoitettu kierrosnopeus (rpm) on sama
tai suurempi kuin laitteen nopeus. Tarkista aina, ettei uudessa kivessä ole vikoja tai vaurioita.
Mikäli hiomakivi on moitteettomassa kunnossa, kiinnitä se laitteeseen.
12. Älä käytä hiomakiveä minkään materiaalin katkaisuun.
ENNEN KÄYTTÖÖNOTTOA
Maadoitus
Vian tai oikosulun sattuessa maadoitus pienentää sähköiskun vaaraa. Laitteen johdossa on
maadoitusjohdin ja maadoitettu pistoke. Pistoke on kytkettävä sille sopivaan, maadoitettuun
pistorasiaan, joka täyttää kaikki paikalliset turvamääräykset.
Älä koskaan tee muutoksia pistokkeeseen. Mikäli se ei sovi pistorasiaan, anna sähköalan
ammattilaisen vaihtaa pistorasia sopivaan. Mikäli pistoke tai johto täytyy jostain syystä vaihtaa,
anna sähköalan ammattilaisen vaihtaa ne uuteen.
Mikäli et ole varma onko laite oikein maadoitettu, ota yhteys pätevään sähköalan ammattilaiseen tai
valtuutettuun huoltoliikkeeseen.
Jatkojohto
Käytä ainoastaan maadoitettuja jatkojohtoja, jotka sopivat laitteen pistokkeeseen. Korjaa tai vaihda
vaurioituneet tai kuluneet jatkojohdot välittömästi. Varmista, että jatkojohto on asianmukainen ja
hyvässä kunnossa. Älä käytä vaurioitunutta johtoa.

Laitteen kiinnittäminen työpöytään
Ennen laitteen käyttöönottoa, kiinnitä se huolellisesti työpöytään tai jalustaan.
HUOMIO: Laite aiheuttaa tärinää. Laitteen liikkuminen sen ollessa käynnissä saattaa aiheuttaa
loukkaantumisen tai vaurioita työkappaleeseen. Kiinnitä laite huolellisesti tukevaan työpöytään tai
jalustaan.
1. Aseta laite työpöydälle.
2. Merkitse pöytään kiinnityskohdat käyttäen apuna laitteen alaosan reikiä.
3. Poraa työpöytään reiät merkkien kohdalle.
4. Käyttäen kahta pitkää pulttia, aluslaattoja, varmistuslaattoja sekä muttereita (ei toimiteta laitteen
mukana) kiinnitä laite työpöytään.
Silmäsuojuksen asennus
Silmäsuojukset on oltava asennettuna ennen laitteen käyttöönottoa.
1. Kiinnitä silmäsuojuksen varsi hiomakivensuojuksen kylkeen käyttäen kuusiopulttia.
2. Kun varsi on kiinnitetty, liu’uta suojuksen kehys varteen.
3. Kiristä pultti niin, että suojusta voi kuitenkin liikutella.
HUOM: Silmäsuojuksen tulisi liikkua helposti sitä säädettäessä, mutta pysyä paikallaan kun
säätöruuvi on kiristetty.

Hiomakiven asennus ja vaihto
VAROITUS: Sammuta laite ja irrota se virtalähteestä ennen kuin vaihdat hiomakiveä. Kun
käynnistät laitteen uudelleen, älä koskaan seiso sen edessä vaan sivulla ja anna hiomakiven
pyöriä noin minuutti ennen työn aloittamista.
1. Löysää työkalutuen kuusiomuttereita ja irrota tuki.
2. Irrota hiomakivensuojus käyttämällä ruuvimeisseliä ja irrota hiomakivi.
3. Löysää hiomakiven mutteria sopivalla kiintoavaimella. Huomaa, että muttereissa on
vasenkätinen kierre, joten löysääminen ja kiristäminen tapahtuu päinvastoin kuin normaalisti.
4. Irrota ulkolaippa ja hiomakivi. Irrota mutteri kääntämällä kiintoavainta, kunnes se koskettaa
työpöytään laitteen takana.
5. Tarkista uusi hiomakivi huolellisesti mahdollisten vaurioiden varalta.
6. Pyyhi laipan pinta puhtaaksi ja asenna uusi hiomakivi, laippa ja mutteri.
7. Varmista, että hiomakivi ja ulkolaippa ovat kunnolla kiinni akselissa.
8. Aseta hiomakivensuojus takaisin paikalleen ja kiinnitä työkalutuki.
9. Säädä kipinä- ja silmäsuojukset uudelleen aina hiomakiven asennuksen jälkeen.
10. Kun käynnistät laitteen uudelleen, älä seiso sen edessä vaan sivulla ja anna hiomakiven pyöriä
noin minuutti ennen työn aloittamista.
HUOMIO: Älä kiristä hiomakiven mutteria liikaa, sillä hiomakivi saattaa haljeta.
HUOMIO: Älä koskaan käytä vaurioitunutta hiomakiveä. Kivi saattaa rikkoutua laitteen ollessa
käynnissä ja aiheuttaa käyttäjän tai sivullisten loukkaantumisen.
Kuivahionta
Kiinnitä työkalutuki kahdella kuusiopultilla ja aluslaatalla. Kiristä työkalutuki huolellisesti enintään
3,2 mm päähän hiomakiven pinnasta.
Työkalutuen on aina oltava enintään 3,2 mm päässä hiomakivestä, jotta työkappale ei pääse
kiilautumaan työkalutuen ja hiomakiven väliin. Säädä väli säännöllisesti.
1. Löysää, mutta älä irrota, kahta työkalutukea kannattelevaa kuusiomutteria.
2. Säädä tukea 3,2 mm etäisyydelle hiomakiven pinnasta.
3. Kiristä kuusiomutterit.

Kipinäsuojus
HUOMIO: Kipinäsuojuksen on aina oltava 1,6 mm päässä hiomakiven pinnasta. Näin vältetään
mahdolliset kipinöiden aiheuttamat vauriot ja loukkaantumiset. Säädä väli säännöllisesti
hiomakiven kulumisen mukaan.
ASENNUS:
1. Kiinnitä kipinäsuojus hiomakivensuojukseen etuosaan käyttäen ruuveja/pultteja ja aluslaattoja.
2. Säädä kipinäsuojus 1,6 mm etäisyydelle hiomakiven pinnasta ja kiristä ruuvit/pultit
huolellisesti.
Märkähiomakiven asentaminen ja vaihto
1. Irrota laite virtalähteestä.
2. Tyhjennä vesi pois vesiastiasta.
3. Irrota kaksi ruuvia, joilla vesiastia on kiinnitetty laitteen runkoon.
4. Irrota laippaa ja hiomakiveä pitelevät mutterit.
5. Asenna uusi hiomakivi.
6. Aseta laippa, mutterit, vesiastia ja vesi takaisin paikoilleen.
KÄYTTÖ
Laite sopii erityisesti talttojen, kirveiden ja muiden puuntyöstöön tarkoitettujen työkalujen sekä
ruuvimeisselien kärkien tai poranterien teroittamiseen. Laitteella voidaan myös poistaa ylimääräisen
metallimateriaalin työkappaleesta. Terät reunat ja metallipinnat voidaan viimeistellä hienolla
hiomakivellä. Tarvittaessa laitteeseen voi liittää lisävarusteita, joilla voidaan puhdistaa (teräsharja)
tai kiillottaa (kiillotuslaikka ) metallipintoja.
ON/OFF
Kytkin on sijoitettu laitteen etuosaan.
1. Paina ON ja laite käynnistyy.
2. Paina OFF ja laite sammuu.
Ennen hionnan aloittamista
Penkkihiomakone on turvallinen laite oikein käytettynä. Noudata käyttöohjeen kaikkia turvaohjeita,
mutta muista myös aina käyttää maalaisjärkeä tilanteen ja olosuhteiden mukaan. Lue seuraavat
turvaohjeet ennen käytön aloittamista.
1. Varmista, että kaikki suojukset ovat paikoillaan.
2. Tarkista aina työkalutuen, kipinäsuojuksen ja silmäsuojuksen säädöt ennen laitteen
käynnistämistä.

3. Käynnistäessäsi laitetta, seiso sen sivulla ja anna laitteen pyöriä noin minuutin ennen jokaista
käyttökertaa.
4. Varmista laitteen huolellinen kiinnitys työpöytään ja testaa laite ennen käyttöä.
5. Laitteen käytöstä aiheutuu kipinöitä, jotka saattavat sytyttää herkästi syttyviä aineita tai
materiaaleja.
6. Älä anna kenenkään seisoa kipinöiden tiellä.
7. Älä koskaan hio herkästi syttyvien nesteiden tai kaasujen läheisyydessä.
8. Käytä suojavarusteita. Varaudu siihen, että hiomakivi saattaa singota pieniä kappaleita suurella
voimakkuudella. Käytä suojalaseja tai kasvosuojusta, hengityssuojainta, kuulosuojaimia,
suojavaatetusta (esim. nahkainen esiliina) sekä tukevia, luistamattomia kenkiä.
9. Älä käytä löysiä vaatteita, jotka saattavat juuttua laitteen liikkuviin osiin.
10. Älä nojaudu työkappaletta vasten. Kätesi voivat luiskahtaa hiomakiveen.
11. Keskity käsillä olevaan työhön. Pysäytä laite mikäli ympärillä on häiriötekijöitä.
12. Älä hio työkappaletta hiomakiven sivua vasten. Tätä laitetta ei ole tarkoitettu sivuhiontaan.
Yleisiä hiontaohjeita
1. Säädä työkalutukea tarvittaessa suurien tai epäsäännöllisten työkappaleiden mukaan.
2. Liikuttele hioessasi työkappaletta kiven reunalta toiselle. Mikäli työkappaletta pidetään koko
ajan samassa kohtaa, hiomakivi kuluu epätasaisesti ja hionta hankaloituu. Hiomakivi saattaa
myös halkeilla tai vaurioitua helpommin.
3. Mikäli työkappale kuumenee hiottaessa, kasta se välillä veteen tai öljyyn.
4. Hio aina hiomakiven kehän pintaa vasten, älä sivua vasten. Sivusta kohdistuva paine saattaa
vaurioittaa hiomakiveä.
5. Mikäli hiomakiven pinta kuluu epätasaisesti, taipuu tai ei ole enää tasainen, se tulee oikaista
tasoittimella.
6. Mikäli hiomakivi ei enää ole pyöreä, kivi tulee muotoilla tasoittimella tai vaihtaa uuteen.
7. Mikäli hiomakiven pinta tukeutuu, se tulee puhdistaa tasoittimen avulla.
8. Säädä työkalutuki ja kipinäsuojus aina uudelleen hiomakiven huollon jälkeen.
Kuivahionta
Laite on suunniteltu ainoastaan kovametallien hiontaan. Pehmeille metalleille tai puulle sopii
paremmin hiomanauha, sillä ne tukkivat hiomakiven nopeasti.
1. Täytä jäähdytysastiasta ¾ vedellä.
2. Kytke laite virtalähteeseen, seiso sen sivulla ja käynnistä laite painamalla kytkin ON -asentoon.
3. Anna hiomakiven pyöriä ainakin minuutin ajan varmistuaksesi sen kunnosta ja siirry sitten
laitteen eteen.
4. Ota tukeva ote työkappaleesta ja tue se työkalutukea vasten.
5. Vie työkappale hiomakiven pintaa vasten varovasti liikutellen sitä tasaisesti edes takaisin.
HUOM: Liian suuri hiomakiveen kohdistuva paine hidastaa moottoria ja saattaa vaurioittaa
kiveä. Liian pieni paine saa työkappaleen hyppelehtimään eikä kunnon kontaktia hiomapintaan
synny.
6. Kasta työkappale säännöllisin väliajoin jäähdytysastian vedessä.
7. Lopetettuasi työskentelyn, paina kytkin OFF –asentoon. Älä enää jatka hiomista tämän jälkeen
äläkä yritä pysäyttää hiomakiveä työkappaleella painamalla.
VAROITUS: Sekä kuiva- että märkähionnassa työkappaleen tulee olla tarpeeksi suuri, jotta sitä voi
pidellä tukevasti kaksin käsin, mutta ei niin suuri että sitä on hankala pidellä hionnan aikana.

Märkähionta
Varmista aina ennen märkähiontaa, että vesiastiassa on tarpeeksi vettä. 1/3 hiomakivestä tulee olla
veden alla. Lisää vettä tarvittaessa.
HUOMIO: Liian korkea tai matala vedentaso voi vaikuttaa epäedullisesti hiomatulokseen. Vaihda
vesiastian vesi säännöllisesti. Poista vesi pitämällä toista astiaa vesiastian alapuolella ja irrottamalla
kumitulppa vesiastian pohjasta. Valuta vesi pois ja aseta tulppa takaisin. Täytä vesiastia uudella
vedellä.
Seiso märkähiomakiven vasemmalla puolella ja kytke laite päälle. Pitele työkappaletta tukevasti
molemmin käsin ja syötä sitä varovasti hiomakiveä vasten. Työkappaletta voidaan tukea myös
vesisäiliön rungon hammasta vasten.
VAROITUS: Sekä kuiva- että märkähionnassa työkappaleen tulee olla tarpeeksi suuri, jotta sitä voi
pidellä tukevasti kaksin käsin, mutta ei niin suuri että sitä on hankala pidellä hionnan aikana.
Välttääksesi laitteen ylikuumenemisen, älä käytä sitä yhtäjaksoisesti 30 minuuttia pidempään. Anna
laitteen jäähtyä välillä.
HUOLTO
VAROITUS: Sammuta laite ja irrota se virtalähteestä aina ennen säätö- tai
huoltotoimenpiteitä. Älä yritä korjata tai huoltaa moottorin sähkökomponentteja vaan vie
laite aina korjattavaksi valtuutettuun huoltoliikkeeseen.
Säännölliset huoltotoimenpiteet
1. Tarkista johdon kunto ennen jokaista käyttökertaa.
2. Tarkista hiomakivien kunto ennen jokaista käyttökertaa.
3. Tarkista liikkuvien osien linjaukset ja kiinnitykset ennen jokaista käyttökertaa.
4. Tarkista työkalutuen ja kipinäsuojuksen etäisyys hiomakiven pinnasta ennen jokaista
käyttökertaa.
5. Säädä työkalutuen ja kipinäsuojuksen etäisyys tarvittaessa.
6. Tasoita hiomakivet tarvittaessa.
7. Vaihda hiomakivet tarvittaessa.
8. Puhdista tai imuroi pölyt moottorin kotelosta ja muista osista tarvittaessa.
9. Vaihda jäähdytysastian vesi tarvittaessa.
Mikäli laite tarvitsee muuta huoltoa suositeltujen huoltotoimenpiteiden lisäksi, vie se
valtuutettuun huoltoliikkeeseen.

Jäähdytysastia
Metalliset työkappaleet kuumenevat nopeasti hionnan aikana. On tärkeää muistaa liikutella
kappaletta edes takaisin hiomakiven pinnalla ja jäähdyttää sitä välillä jäähdytysastiassa.
VIANETSINTÄ
Laite tulee huoltaa ainoastaan valtuutetussa huoltoliikkeessä. Sähköön liittyvät toimenpiteet saa
tehdä ainoastaan sähköalan ammattilainen.

GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
DANGER: Failure to observe any of the following instructions could result in severe personal
injury to tool user and bystanders or cause damage to tool and property!
WARNING! When using electric tools, basic safety precautions should always be followed to
reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and personal injury, including the following. Read all these
instructions and the signs on the tool before operating this product and save these instructions.
1. Always wear approved eye protection.
2. Wear a mask or respirator when dust is generated.
3. Some dust created by power grinding contains chemicals that may cause cancer, birth defects or
other harm. Some examples of these chemicals are: lead from lead-based paint, crystalline silica
from bricks, cement and other masonry products, and arsenic and chromium from chemically
treated lumber. To reduce exposure to these chemicals, work in a well-ventilated area; use
approved safety equipment; and use dust masks that are specially designed to filter out
microscopic particles.
4. Keep bystanders out of the work area while operating the tool.
5. WARNING! Always ensure that the work area is clear of any flammable materials, liquids or
gasses, because the use of this tool may create sparks.
6. Keep guards in place and working properly.
7. Unplug from power supply before adjusting or servicing.
8. To avoid electric shock, do not use in damp conditions or expose to rain.
9. Use only original and recommended accessories. If in doubt, ask your dealer or importer.
10. Grounded tools must be plugged into an outlet that has been properly installed and grounded in
accordance with all local codes and ordinances. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use
adaptor plugs. If in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded, consult a qualified
electrician.
11. Do not use the tool when tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, medication or other
substances that might affect the user’s alertness.
12. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair tied back.
13. Ensure the power switch is off prior to plugging in the tool.
14. Service on the tool should only be performed by an authorized, qualified technician.
SPECIAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1. WARNING! Replace cracked grinding wheels immediately.
2. Unplug from power supply before adjusting or servicing. The grinding wheels continue to rotate
after the tool is switched off. Always allow wheels to stop before adjusting or servicing.
3. Do not over tighten spindle nuts.
4. Adjust tool rests whenever necessary to maintain a distance of 3.2 mm (1/8”) from the grinding
wheel.
5. When a new grinding wheel has been fitted or during each start-up, stand to one side of the
grinder and switch it ‘On’. Let the grinder operate at full speed for approximately one minute so
that any undetected flaws or cracks will become apparent.
6. NEVER grind on the side of the wheel. Grind on the face of the wheel only.
7. NEVER apply pressure to the workpiece when the grinding wheel is cold. Allow the wheel to
warm up by applying the workpiece gradually.
8. NEVER use the grinder without the wheel guards. Keep thumbs and fingers away from the
wheel.
9. Tighten grinding wheel locking nuts, securing bolts and all clamps and guards.
10. Never reach behind or beneath the grinding wheels.

11. When fitting a new grinding wheel, always check that the stated maximum RPM meets or
exceeds that stated on the grinder. Also check the new wheel for damage such as flaws or
cracks. If the wheel appears satisfactory, fit it to the grinder.
12. DO NOT attempt to cut anything with the grinding wheel.
BEFORE USE
Grounding
In the event of a malfunction or short circuit, grounding provides the path of least resistance for
electrical current, and reduces the risk of electric shock for the operator. This tool is equipped with
an electric cord that has an equipment grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug MUST
be plugged into a matching outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with ALL
local codes and ordinances.
Do not modify the plug provided. If it will not fit the outlet, have the proper outlet installed by a
qualified electrician. If repair or replacement of the electric cord or plug is necessary have them
installed by a qualified electrician.
Check with a qualified electrician or service personnel if you do not completely understand the
grounding instructions, or if you are not sure if the tool is properly grounded.
Extension cords
Use only grounded extension cords that accept the tool’s plug. Repair or replace damaged or worn
cords immediately. Be sure your extension cord is properly wired and in good condition. Do not use
damaged extension cords.

Mounting the grinder to the workbench
Before attempting to use this grinder, it must be properly mounted to a workbench or grinding
stand.
CAUTION! Bench grinders vibrate. Grinder movement during high-speed rotation may
cause injury or damage to the workpiece or operator. Mount the grinder securely to a sturdy
workbench or grinding stand.
1. Position the grinder on the workbench.
2. Mark the workbench through the two mounting holes located in the grinder base.
3. Drill holes in the workbench at the marks.
4. Using two long bolts, washers, locking washers and nuts, as shown (not supplied), secure the
grinder to the workbench.
Eye shield installation
Eye shields must be installed before operating the bench grinder.
1. Mount shield rod to the inside of the wheel guard using hex bolt.
2. Once shield rod is firmly in place, slide the shield bracket onto the shield rod.
3. Tighten the carriage bolt, leaving it loose enough to allow the safety shield to be raised and
lowered easily.
NOTE: The eye shield should move freely when being adjusted, but stay in place when the locking
knob is tightened.

Installing or changing the wheels
WARNING! Turn the power off and remove the plug from the outlet before changing the
grinding wheel. When turning the grinder on with a newly installed wheel, DO NOT STAND
IN FRONT OF THE GRINDER. Stand to the side and allow the grinder to run for at least
one minute before proceeding to use it.
1. Loosen the tool rest hex nuts and slide the tool rest away from the wheel.
2. Use a screwdriver to remove the wheel cover screws and remove the wheel cover.
3. Loosen the wheel nuts with an appropriately sized wrench, noting that the wheels have ‘reverse-
threaded” spindles, so that the nuts will loosen (and tighten) by turning opposite normal
screw/bolt directions.
4. Remove the outer flange and grinding wheel. To remove the hex nut, turn the wrench and nut
until the wrench is resting on the workbench behind the tool.
5. Inspect the new wheel carefully to ensure there are no cracks, chips or other damage.
6. Wipe the flange surfaces clean, and install the new wheel, flange and the spindle hex nut.
7. Be sure the grinding wheel and outer flange are properly seated on the spindle shaft.
8. Replace the wheel cover and reposition the tool rest.
9. The tool rest, spark deflector and eye shields will need to be readjusted after installation of the
wheel is complete.
10. When turning the power on with a newly installed wheel, DO NOT STAND IN FRONT OF
THE GRINDER. Stand to the side and allow the grinder to run for at least one minute before
proceeding to use it.
IMPORTANT! Do not over tighten the spindle hex nut, because this may cause the wheels to
crack.
CAUTION! DO NOT INSTALL OR USE A DAMAGED GRINDING WHEEL. The force of
rotation may cause a damaged wheel to fly apart, and could injure operators or bystanders.
Dry grinder
Mount the tool rests to the work rest bracket using the two hex screws and washers. Before
tightening the bolts, adjust the gap between the grinding wheel and the work rest to a maximum of
3,2 mm (1/8”). Tighten securely.

To prevent the workpiece from being pulled and caught between the tool rest and the wheel,
readjust the tool rest position whenever necessary to maintain the 3,2 mm (1/8”) distance.
1. Loosen, but do not remove, the two hex nuts holding the tool rest arm.
2. Slide the tool rest in or out to achieve a 3,2 mm (1/8”) distance from the grinding wheel surface.
3. Retighten the two hex nuts.
Spark deflector/arrestor
CAUTION: To help prevent damage or injury from the sparks created by grinding metal, the spark
arrestor on the dry grinding wheel must always be 1,6 mm (1/16”) away from the surface of the
grinding wheel. Readjust the spark arrestor position as the wheel surface wears down with use.
Installation of Spark Arrestor/Deflector:
1. Using the screws and washers provided, attach the spark deflector to the inside front screw hole
on the wheel guard.
2. Adjust the spark deflector to within 1,6 mm (1/16”) of the grinding wheel. Tighten the screws or
bolts securely.
Installing/Replacing Wet Grinding wheels
1. Disconnect the grinder from the power supply.
2. Drain water from the water container.
3. Remove the two screws that hold the water container to the body of the grinder.
4. Remove the nuts holding the flange and wheel in place.
5. Install new wheel.
6. Replace flange, nuts, containers, water, etc. by reversing the above instructions.
OPERATION
Using the Dry Grinder
Dry/Wet Grinder is ideal for use in sharpening chisels, axes and other wood-cutting tools. It is also
useful for repairing tips on screwdrivers and drill bits or for removing excess metal burrs from
pieces of cut metal. Additionally, it can be used for finishing sharp edges and metal surfaces using a
fine grit wheel. With the proper accessories, this tool can be used for cleaning metal surfaces using
a wire brush or for buffing and polishing using a cloth wheel.

ON/OFF
The rocker ON/OFF power switch is located on the front of
the grinder.
1. Press the side marked ON to turn the grinder on.
2. Press the side marked OFF to turn the grinder off.
Before Grinding
The grinder is a safe tool when used properly. In addition to the safety instructions in this manual,
the most important safety consideration is to use common sense at all times. What may be safe in
one situation may not be safe in another. Read the following to help protect yourself before using
the grinder.
1. Ensure all guards and eye shields are in place.
2. Always check the adjustments of the tool rests, spark arrestors, and eye shields before turning the
grinder on.
3. Do a Test Run. Stand to the side of the grinder when you turn it on and allow it to run for one full
minute prior to EVERY use.
4. Ensure that you have mounted your grinder securely, and that you have performed the “Test
Run”.
5. Remember that grinding often produces sparks that could ignite flammable materials or
substances.
6. DO NOT allow anyone to stand in the path of the sparks.
7. DO NOT grind near flammable liquids or gasses.
8. Wear proper protective clothing. Remember that particles flying off of a grinding wheel will be
travelling very fast – prepare for this. Wear safety glasses or a face shield, a dust mask,
earplugs, protective clothing (e.g. leather apron) and heavy, non-skid boots.
9. Do not wear loose clothing that could get caught in the machine.
10. DO NOT lean into the workpiece in a manner that may cause your hands to move into the
spinning wheel if the workpiece slips.
11. Concentrate on the task at hand. STOP grinding if there are distractions.
12. DO NOT grind on the side of the wheel. This model is not designed for side grinding.
General Instructions – Dry Grinding
1. Adjust the tool rest to accommodate large or unusually shaped workpieces.
2. Always keep the workpiece moving across the face of the grinding wheel. Grinding continuously
on the same spot on the wheel will cause grooves to be worn into the wheel. The wheel may crack
or become damaged more easily, and grinding of other objects will be difficult.
3. If the workpiece becomes hot, dip it into the water or oil to cool it.
4. Always grind on the face of the wheel (around the diameter), NEVER on the sides. Side pressure
on grinding wheels can cause cracking and damage.
5. If the face of the grinding wheel is worn unevenly, becomes grooved, or is no longer smooth and
flat, the wheel should be reshaped with a dressing tool (not supplied.)
6. If the diameter of the grinding wheel is no longer round, the wheel should be reshaped with a
dressing tool or replaced.
7. If the surface of the wheel becomes loaded and dull with workpiece material, the wheel should be
cleaned with a dressing tool.
8. After reshaping, always readjust the tool rests and spark arrestors.

Dry Grinder Operations
The grinding wheel is designed for use with hard metals only. Soft metals and wood products
should only be used in conjunction with the sanding belt, because they will quickly load the
grinding wheel and ruin its abrasive qualities. To grind with the grinding wheel:
1) Fill the coolant tray ¾ full with water.
2) With the machine plugged into a power outlet, stand to the side of the grinding wheel and move
the switch to the ON position.
3) Allow the machine to run for at least 1 full minute to ensure that the grinding wheel is safe for
use, and then move to the front of the machine.
4) Grasp the workpiece tightly, and properly support it on the tool rest.
5) Place the workpiece against the front surface of the wheel with moderate pressure, moving it
back and forth in a steady, even motion. Note: Using too much pressure will slow the motor, and
may damage the wheel. Using too little pressure will make the workpiece bounce around, and you
will not make good contact with the wheel.
6) Regularly dip the workpiece into the coolant tray to cool it off.
7) When you are ready to stop the grinder, move the ON/OFF switch to the OFF position. At this
point, DO NOT continue grinding, and DO NOT manually stop the grinding wheel with your
workpiece.
CAUTION: The workpiece to be machined, whether in the case of wet or dry grinding, must be at
least large enough to be held securely with two hands. Larger workpieces must also be of a size and
shape that they can be held securely without slipping during the grinding process.
Using the Wet Grinder
Prior to wet grinding, ensure that there is enough water in the water container. One-third of the wet
grinding wheel must be immersed in water. If necessary, top up the water supply.
NOTE: A water level that is too high or too low can have a negative effect on grinding results. Be
sure to regularly change the water in the water container. To do this, first empty the container by
holding a bucket or other receptacle below the water container – where the rubber drain stopper is
located. Remove the rubber stopper, allow water to drain, then replace. Refill the water container
from the top.
Standing to the left of the grinder (left of the wet grinding wheel), switch the grinder “ON”. Hold
the workpiece firmly using both hands, and carefully feed it into the grinding wheel to sharpen or
clean it, as applicable.
The workpiece may also be supported using the serrations (or teeth) on the housing of the water
container.

CAUTION: The workpiece to be machined, whether in the case of wet or dry grinding, must
at least be large enough to be held securely with two hands. Larger workpieces must also be of a
size and shape that they can be held securely without slipping during the grinding process.
To prevent possible motor overloading/overheating, grinder shouldn’t be used for more than 30
minutes at a time without rest. Allow grinder to cool periodically.
MAINTENANCE
WARNING! Turn the power switch “OFF” and disconnect the plug from the outlet prior to
adjusting or maintaining the grinder. DO NOT attempt to repair or maintain the electrical
components of the motor. Take the grinder to a qualified service technician for this type of
maintenance.
Maintenance Required
1. Check power cord before each use.
2. Check wheels for cracks before each use.
3. Check moving parts for alignment and binding issues before each use.
4. Check tool rests and spark deflectors for spacing from wheels before each use.
5. Adjust tool rests and spark deflectors as needed.
6. Dress grinding wheels as needed.
7. Replace grinding wheels as needed.
8. Clean and vacuum dust from the motor housing and other grinder parts as needed.
9. Replace coolant water as needed.
Service beyond recommended maintenance on these tools should only be performed by an
authorized, qualified technician.
Coolant tray
When grinding, metal objects become heated quickly. It is important to keep moving the object back
and forth across the face of the grinding wheel, and to cool the object frequently using the coolant
tray.
