The SELECT button controls communications with the computer. Pressing
this button turns the SELECT light on and off. When the light is on, the
printer is on line
(SELECTED)
and is ready to receive data. When the light
is out, the printer is offline or (DESELECTED) and not ready to receive data
from the computer.
Note:If the printer is
DESELECTED
for more than a few minutes the
CAT PLUS or CAT BASIC will sound an alarm.
Three buttons on the front panel control forms. The LINE FEED button
performs one line feed and the FORM FEED button advances the paper to
the top margin of the next page. The TOP OF FORM button set the top
margin at the current location of the print head and will only work when
the printer is offline. (SELECT is off). The red ALARM light will alert
you when paper is low or out, or when there is an internal problem with
the printer. When the alarm light is on, the printer cannot be selected.
The
POWER
light is on when the printer is plugged in and turned on.
These next two buttons control character size and print quality and are
functional whether the printer is selected or deselected. The light reflect
the current setting of the printer.
The
PITCH
button controls the character size-10,12 or 17 characters
per inch (cpi). The light next to the size will indicate which one is
selected.
The
MODE
button controls which print quality ia being used-NLQ, Utility or HSD.
The default settings are 17 cpi and Utility print quality these are also
the recommended settings.
