There’sariskofentrapment/suffocation
betweenmattresssupport,siderailandbedend
orbetweenmovingpartsandobjectsplaced
nearbythebed.
–Thebedmustnotbeusedbypersonsunder12
yearsofage,orbypersonswithabodysize
equivalenttoanaverage12yearsoldorsmaller.
–Thebed,incombinationwithsiderailsmust
notbeusedbypersonshavingaphysicalsize
lessthan146cm,aweightlessthan40kgora
bodymassindex(BMI)lessthan17.
–Duetomattresscompression,anincreased
riskmayoccurovertime.Periodicallymonitor
gapsbetweenthebed,mattressand/orside
rail.Replacemattressifthegapsmayleadto
entrapment.
WARNING!
Riskofslippingthroughtheopenings
Thebedfullsallrequirementsregarding
maximumdistances.However,itispossible
thatpersonswithsmallbodydimensionsslip
throughtheopeningsbetweenthesiderailsor
throughtheopeningbetweenthesiderailand
themattresssupport.
–Payspecialattention,ifthebedisusedforthe
careofpersonswithsmallbodydimensions.
WARNING!
Riskduetoelectromagneticinterference
Electromagneticinterferencebetweenthebed
andotherelectricalproductscanoccur.
–Toreduceoreliminatesuchelectromagnetic
interference,increasethedistancebetweenthe
bedandtheproductsorswitchthemoff.
Thismedicalbedcanbeusedtogetherwith
medicalelectricalequipmentconnectedto
theheart(intracardially)orbloodvessels
(intravascularly)providedthatfollowingpoints
arerespected:
–Medicalelectricalequipmentshouldnotbe
xedonthebed’smetallicaccessoriessuchas
siderails,liftingpole,driprod,bedends,etc.
–Themedicalelectricalequipmentpowersupply
cordshouldbekeptclearoftheaccessoriesor
anyothermovingpartsofthebed.
WARNING!
Riskofinjuryordamagetoproperty
–Donotrollthecastorsoverthemainpower
cord.
–Donotbringmainpowercordintomoving
parts.
–Disconnecttheplugfromthemainsbefore
movingthebed.
–Makesurethatnowires(mainsorfromother
equipment)arejammedordamaged,whenthe
bedisused.
–Keepbedcomponentsandaccessoriesatleast
30cmawayfromaheatedsurfaceandnotin
directsunlight.
CAUTION!
Thereisariskofentrapmentofngersinthe
bedmovingparts.
–Payattentiontoyourngers.
CAUTION!
–Forauserenteringorexitingthebed,always
lowerthebedtoanappropriateheight.The
backrestcanbeusedasasupport.Makesure,
thethigh-andlegsectionishorizontaltoavoid
overloadingthemattresssupport.
–Alwayslowerthebedtothelowestposition
beforeleavingthepatientinthebed
unattended.
–Makesurethatthereisnothingunder,over,
ornearthebedthatcanobstructtheheight
adjustment,likeforexamplefurniture,liftsor
windowframes.
2.2Mattresses
WARNING!
Safetyaspectsregardingcombinationofside
railsandmattresses:
Togetthehighestpossiblesafetylevel,when
usingsiderailsonthebed,theminimumand
maximummeasuresformattresses,mustbe
respected.
–Forcorrectmattressmeasuresseemattress

–Theusercouldgettrappedand/orsuffocate,if
thehorizontalspace,betweenthemattressside
andtheinsideofthesiderail,istoobig.Follow

.
–Beawarethatusingverythickorsoft
mattresses(lowdensity),oracombinationof
these,increasestherisk.
