Use of the freezer compartment
Temperature control
The temperature within the freezer is controlled by
the thermostat situated at the top of the cabinet.
The temperature of this compartment may be
regulated by rotating the knob (B), and may vary
between more or less -15°C and -24°C.
When the knob is rotated, the display flashes and
indicates the set temperature. After having set the
desired temperature, if the knob is not rotated within
5 seconds, the temperature of the freezer
compartment will be indicated.
To operate the freezer proceed as follows:
Turn the thermostat control beyond the
position.
When you first start the freezer, we suggest that you
turn the thermostat control to a medium setting.
However, if the appliance is working in unfavourable
room conditions such as
- poor ventilation,
- high temperature,
- frequent door openings,
it may be necessary to select a more suitable
setting.
We suggest setting the knob to the middle position to
obtain an internal temperature of approximately
-18°C, which guarantees proper freezing and
conservation of the frozen foods.
Freezing fresh food
The freezer compartment is suitable for long term
storage of commercially frozen food, and for freezing
fresh food.
The maximum quantity of foods to freeze in 24 hours is
shown on the serial number plate.
Place the foods you want to freeze on the shelf of the
freezer compartment, as this is the coldest point.
To freeze fresh foods, you will need to activate the fast
freeze function. Press button E (several times if
necessary) until the corresponding icon appears
After a pre-cooling period of 24 hours, place the foods
in the freezer.
The freezing process takes 24 hours. During this
period do not put other foods in the freezer.
This function stops automatically after 54 hours.
Put the foods to be frozen in the compartments of
the freezer, as per the diagram.
Storage of frozen food
When first starting-up or after a period out of use,
before putting the products in the compartment let
the appliance run for at least two hours on the fast
frost setting, then push again the Super-frost button.
Important
In the event of accidental defrosting, for example
due to a power failure, if the power has been off
for longer that the value shown in the technical
characteristics chart under “rising time”, the
defrosted food must be consumed quickly or
cooked immediately and then refrozen (after
cooling).
Thawing
Deep-frozen or frozen food, prior to being used, can
be thawed in the refrigerator compartment or at
room temperature, depending on the time available
for this operation.
Small pieces may even be cooked still frozen, directly
from the freezer: in this case, cooking will take longer.
The function can be de-activated at any time by
pressing button E (see paragraph "Activation of
Functions").
Distribute the frozen food packages in the other
compartments, so that the top compartments can be
used for a further freezing operation.
- The food to be frozen must be fresh and of the
best quality.
- Do not allow fresh food to touch food which is
already frozen.
- During the freezing process, ensure that the
freezer door remains closed.
X

Cold accumulators
The appliance is equipped with two cold
accumulators. If there is a power outage, they will
extend food conservation for a few hours.
Excessive temperature alarm
An increase in the temperature in the freezer
compartment (for example due to an power failure)
is indicated by:
- flashing temperature;
- freezer compartment flashing (symbol 2);
- red illumination of display;
- sounding of buzzer.
When normal conditions are restored:
- the acoustic signal shuts off;
- the temperature value continues to flash;
- the display illumination remains red.
When you press button "E" to de-activate the alarm,
the highest temperature reached in the compartment
appears on indicator 4 for approximately 5 seconds.
At this point the flashing stops and the display
illumination changes over from red to white.
During the alarm phase, the buzzer can be switched
off by pressing button E; the illumination of the
display remains red until normal storage conditions
are restored.
Ice-cube production
This appliance is equipped with one or more trays
for the production of ice-cubes. Fill these trays with
water, then put them in the freezer compartment.
Do not use metallic instruments to remove the
trays from the freezer.

series of runners so that the shelves can be
positioned as desired.
For better use of space, the front half-shelves can lie
over the rear ones.
D338
Positioning the door shelves
To permit storage of food packages of various sizes,
the door shelves can be placed at different heights.
To make these adjustments proceed as follows:
Gradually pull the shelf in the direction of the arrows
until it comes free, then reposition as required.
8
Hints for storage of frozen food
To obtain the best performance from this appliance,
you should:
make sure that the commercially frozen
foodstuffs were adequately stored by the retailer;
be sure that frozen foodstuffs are transferred
from the foodstore to the freezer in the shortest
possible time;
not open the door frequently or leave it open
longer than absolutely necessary.
Once defrosted, food deteriorates rapidly and
cannot be refrozen.
Do not exceed the storage period indicated by
the food manufacturer.
The numbers indicate storage times in months for the
appropriate types of frozen goods.Whether the
upper or lower value of the indicated storage time is
valid depends on the quality of the foods and pre-
treating before freezing;
do not put carbonated liquids (fizzy drinks,
etc.) in the freezer compartment as they may
burst.
Hints for freezing
To help you make the most of the freezing process,
here are some important hints:
the maximum quantity of food which can be
frozen in 24 hrs. is shown on the rating plate;
the freezing process takes 24 hours. No further
food to be frozen should be added during this
period;
only freeze top quality, fresh and thoroughly
cleaned, foodstuffs;
prepare food in small portions to enable it to be
rapidly and completely frozen and to make it
possible subsequently to thaw only the quantity
required;
wrap up the food in aluminium foil or polythene
and make sure that the packages are airtight;
do not allow fresh, unfrozen food to touch food
which is already frozen, thus avoiding a rise in
temperature of the latter;
lean foods store better and longer than fatty
ones; salt reduces the storage life of food;
water ices, if consumed immediately after
removal from the freezer compartment, can
possibly cause the skin to be freeze burnt;
it is advisable to show the freezing-in date on
each individual pack to enable you to keep tab of
the storage time;
the symbols show different types of
frozen goods.
HINTS

yttö
Kotitalouskäyttöön tarkoitetut jääkaapit ja
pakastimet on tarkoitettu ainoastaan
elintarvikkeiden säilytykseen.
Laitteen suorituskyky on parhaimmillaan silloin,
kun ympäristön lämpötila on +18°C ja +43°C
välillä (Luokka T); +18°C ja +38°C välillä (Luokka
ST); +16°C ja +32°C välillä (Luokka N); +10°C e
+32°C (Luokka SN). Laitteen luokka on osoitettu
sarjanumerokyltissä (sijoitettu vihannestilan
sivulla olevaan kennoon).
Huomio: Noudata seuraavia ohjeita, mikäli
ympäristön lämpötila on luokalle osoitettujen
rajojen ulkopuolella: kun ympäristön lämpötila
putoaa minimiarvon alapuolelle pakastelokeron
säilytyslämpötilaa ei voida taata. Tämän vuoksi
suosittelemme pakastelokerossa olevien
elintarvikkeiden käyttämistä mahdollisimman
nopeasti.
Pakastettua ruokaa ei tulisi pakastaa uudelleen
sen jälkeen, kun se on kerran sulanut.
Noudata tarkasti valmistajan antamia
säilytysohjeita. Tarkasta ohjeet tuotteen
pakkauksesta.
Laitteen sisäpinta muodostuu kanavista, joiden
läpi jäähdytysaine virtaa. Jos tällaiseen kanavaan
puhkaistaan reikä, laite vaurioituu
korjauskelvottomaksi ja säilytettävä ruoka
tuhoutuu. ÄLÄ KÄYTÄ TERÄVIÄ ESINEITÄ
huurteen tai jään poistamiseen. Huurretta
voidaan kaapia pois laitteen mukana tulevaa
muovilastaa käyttäen. Kiinteää jäätä ei saa
missään tapauksessa yrittää väkisin irrottaa
laitteen sisäpinnasta, vaan sen on annettava
sulaa pois. Ks. sulatusohjeet.
Älä laita hiilihappopitoisia tai kuohuvia juomia
pakastimeen, sillä jäätymisen aiheuttama paine
voi räjäyttää pullon ja vaurioittaa laitetta.
17
Älä käytä mekaanisia apuvälineitä äläkää yritä
nopeuttaa sulamista keinotekoisesti muuten kuin
valmistajan suosittelemilla menetelmillä.
Asennus
Normaalissa käytössä laitteen takana sijaitsevat
kondensaattori ja kompressori kuumenevat
huomattavasti. Turvallisuussyistä on
huolehdittava ao. kuvan mukaisesta
vähimmäistuuletuksesta.
HUOMIO: huolehdi, että tuuletusaukkojen
edessä ei ole ilman virtausta haittaavia esteitä
Laitteen tietyt osat kuumenevat huomattavasti.
Varmista aina riittävä tuuletus, sillä tämän
laiminlyöminen voi aiheuttaa osien rikkoutumisen
ja säilytettävän ruuan tuhoutumisen. Ks.
asennusohjeet.
Kuumenevia osia ei tule jättää avoimiksi. Mikäli
mahdollista, laitteen takaosa tulee asettaa seinää
kohti.
Mikäli laitetta on kuljetettu vaakasuorassa
asennossa, saattaa moottorin kompressorin öljyä
valua jäähdytysainekiertoon. Kuljetuksen jälkeen
tulisi odottaa vähintään kaksi tuntia ennen
laitteen kytkemistä käyttöön, jotta öljy valuisi
takaisin kompressoriin.

Vain yksi toiminto voidaan aktivoida kerrallaan.
Toiminto kytketään pois päältä painamalla vastaavaa
painiketta useita kertoja, kunnes kuvake häviää
näkyvistä.
Pakastinosaston käyttö
Lämpötilan säätäminen
Jääkaapin lämpötilaa säädetään kiertämällä laitteen
yläosassa sijaitsevaa termostaattikytkintä.
Jääkaappiosaston lämpötilaa säädetään kiertämällä
säädintä (F). Lämpötilan säätöalue on noin +2 °C -
+8 °C.
Kun säädintä kierretään, näyttö vilkkuu ja näkyvissä
on asetettu lämpötila. Kun haluttu lämpötila on
asetettu, eikä säädintä kierretä enää 5 sekunnin
kuluessa, näkyviin tulee pakastinosaston lämpötila.
Laitetta käytetään seuraavasti:
Käännä termostaattikytkin asennon «0» yli.
Minimiasento = korkein lämpötila
Maksimiasento = alhaisin lämpötila
Käännä termostaattikytkin haluamaasi asentoon.
Keskiasennossa lämpötila on yleensä sopivin.
Termostaatin asetus voi vaihdella, sillä seuraavat
asiat vaikuttavat laitteen sisälämpötilaan:
– huoneen lämpötila
– oven avaamistiheys
säilytettävien elintarvikkeiden määrä
– laitteen sijaintipaikka.
Voit kytkeä jääkaappiosaston pois toiminnasta
kiertämällä säädintä (F) vastapäivään asentoon "0".
Kun säädin on tässä asennossa, näytössä näkyy
viiden sekunnin ajan sana OF. Pakastinosasto on
edelleen toiminnassa.
Säädin on suositeltavaa asettaa keskiasentoon, jolloin
sisälämpötila on noin +5 °C.
Kun jääkaappiosasto on kytketty pois toiminnasta,
näkyvissä on vain pakastinosaston lämpötila.
Tällöin pikajäähdytystoimintoa ei voi aktivoida, ja
jääkaapin valo kytkeytyy pois toiminnasta.
Tärkeää: Jos jääkaappiosasto on kytketty pois
toiminnasta, jääkaapin ovi on suljettava, jotta
pakastin toimii kunnolla.
Tällöin laitteen elektroniikkaohjaus kierrättää
jääkaapin sisällä automaattisesti ilmaa
säännöllisin väliajoin estäen näin
epämiellyttävän hajun ja kosteuden
muodostumisen.
Pikajäähdytystoiminto
Jos laitat jääkaappiin paljon tuoreita elintarvikkeita,
esimerkiksi kaupassakäynnin jälkeen, suositeltavaa on
kytkeä pikajäähdytystoiminto, jolloin tuotteet jäähtyvät
nopeammin. Tällä tavoin voidaan välttää myös muiden
jo jääkaapissa ja/tai pakastimessa olevien
elintarvikkeiden lämpeneminen.
Pikajäähdytystoiminto aktivoidaan painamalla
painiketta E (tarvittaessa useita kertoja), kunnes
toiminnon symboli tulee näkyviin.
Pikajäähdytystoiminto kytkeytyy pois toiminnasta
automaattisesti noin kuuden tunnin kuluttua.
Voit kytkeä pikajäähdytyksen pois toiminnasta milloin
tahansa painamalla painiketta E (katso kohta
Toimintojen aktivoiminen).
Tuoreiden elintarvikkeiden säilytys
Noudata seuraavia ohjeita varmistaaksesi
elintarvikkeiden parhaan mahdollisen säilyvyyden:
Alä laita jääkaappiin lämpimiä ruokia tai haihtuvia
nesteitä.
Peitä ruoka kannella tai kääri folioon tms.
erityisesti, kun ruoka on voimakastuoksuista.
Sijoita elintarvikkeet jääkaappiin siten, että ilma
pääsee kiertämään vapaasti niiden ympärillä.
20
Pakastinosaston käyttö
Lämpötilan säätäminen
Pakastimen lämpötilaa säädetään kiertämällä
laitteen yläosassa sijaitsevaa termostaattikytkintä.
Pakastinosaston lämpötilaa säädetään kiertämällä
säädintä (B). Lämpötilan säätöalue on
noin -15 °C - - 24 °C.
Kun säädintä kierretään, näyttö vilkkuu ja näkyvissä
on asetettu lämpötila. Kun haluttu lämpötila on
asetettu, eikä säädintä kierretä enää 5 sekunnin
kuluessa, näkyviin tulee pakastinosaston lämpötila.
Pakastinta käytetään seuraavasti:
Käännä termostaattikytkin asennon «
» yli.
Kun kytket pakastimen toimintaan ensimmäisen
kerran, termostaattikytkin on suositeltavaa asettaa
keskiasentoon.
Jos laite on sijoitettu tilaan, jossa
- ilmanvaihto on huono,
- lämpötila on korkea,
- ovea avataan usein,
valitse olosuhteisiin sopiva termostaatin asetus.
Säädin on suositeltavaa asettaa keskiasentoon,
jolloin sisälämpötila on noin -18 °C. Tässä
lämpötilassa elintarvikkeet pakastuvat ja pakasteet
säilyvät hyvin.
Ruokien pakastaminen
Pakastinosasto soveltuu valmispakasteiden
pitkäaikaiseen säilyttämiseen ja tuoreiden
elintarvikkeiden pakastamiseen.
24 tunnin sisällä pakastettavien tuotteiden
enimmäismäärä on mainittu laitteen arvokilvessä.
Aseta pakastettavat elintarvikkeet pakastinosaston
hyllylle, joka on kaikkein kylmin paikka.
Kun pakastat tuoreita elintarvikkeita, aktivoi
pikapakastustoiminto. Paina painiketta E (tarvittaessa
useita kertoja), kunnes toimintoa vastaava symboli
syttyy näytössä .
Laita ruoat pakastimeen 24 tunnin esijäähdytyksen
jälkeen.
Ruokien pakastuminen kestää 24 tuntia. Älä lisää
ruokia pakastimeen tämän ajan kuluessa.
Pikapakastus kytkeytyy automaattisesti pois
toiminnasta 54 tunnin kuluttua.
Järjestä pakastettavat ruoat pakastimen osastoihin
kuvan ohjeiden mukaisesti.
Pakasteiden säilyttäminen
Kun käytät pakastinta ensimmäistä kertaa tai pitkän
yttämättömän jakson jälkeen, anna laitteen toimia
vähintään kahden tunnin ajan
pikapakastustoiminnolla, ennen kuin laitat ruokia
pakastimeen. Paina sen jälkeen uudellen
pikapakastuksen painiketta.
Tärkeää
Jos pakasteet sulavat vahingossa, esimerkiksi
kun virta on ollut sähkökatkon vuoksi pois
päältä pitempään kuin teknisten tietojen
kohdassa Lämpötilan nousuaika mainitun ajan,
sulaneet ruoat on käytettävä välittömästi tai
valmistettava ruoaksi, jonka jälkeen ne voidaan
pakastaa uudelleen (jäähtyneenä).
Sulatus
Pakasteet voidaan sulattaa ennen käyttöä
jääkaapissa tai huoneen lämpötilassa riippuen siitä,
kuinka nopeasti niitä tarvitaan.
Pienempiä paloja voidaan kypsentää myös jäisinä
suoraan pakastimesta otettuna. Kypsennys kestää
tässä tapauksessa pitempään.
Voit kytkeä pikapakastuksen pois toiminnasta milloin
tahansa painamalla painiketta E (katso kohta
Toimintojen aktivoiminen).
Järjestä jo pakastetut tuotteet muihin osastoihin
siten, että ylimmät osastot ovat käytettävissä uusille
pakastettaville elintarvikkeille.
- Pakastettavien ruokien on oltava tuoreita ja
korkealaatuisia.
- Tuoreet elintarvikkeet eivät saa koskea jo
pakastettuihin tuotteisiin.
- Pakastimen ovea ei saa avata tuotteiden
pakastumisen aikana.
